Best springs?

I want it lowered but not slammed... Also want quality... not sure wether to go with Eibach, Neuspeed, Comptech or H&R...
Any opinions and what does it mean when they say front/1.25 rear/0.75?

Cutting stock springs is a bad idea. If I had a choice I would go with the H&R OE. There was someone ho just installed them, and I though it looked excellent.

For those that have seen both sets of springs on our cars, how much of a difference is there in ride height, especially up front, between the Comptech's and the Eibach Pro-Kit? With the Comptech's we're supposedly able to clear most parking markers and curbs, is this true, and what about with the Pro-Kit?

Also, what's the cheapest price for the Pro-Kit with shipping that you all have found? Autocarparts.com?

I've got the H&R's and think they're pretty good considering I don't feel a difference in ride quality, give a good drop, and are decently priced in comparison to the other springs mentioned. I'd post a pic if I knew how.

I know this is what the Comptech website says, but some have said that the drop from the Comptechs is more like 1.75/front and 1.5/rear.

I didn't have the 2 10's at the time, there was nothing in the trunk, I don't know if it was where I was taking the picture at..the parking is uneven, but to answer your question I didn't have anything in the trunk, I took some new pictures, that I will have ready probably this afternoon, I took the other pics at a different location. I will post as soon as I can.

I have the Eibach Pro-Kit and like it very much. It lowered my car about 1.25 all the way around. I have had no problems with speed bumps or parking markers yet. Just be careful...not all curbs and markers are the same height. Also, the camber on this kit isn't bad at all just remember to rotate your tires regularly.

CMark,

You had the oe's correct? If so did you get the honda accord ones, or the tl? What was the model number?

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure they're for the V6 Accord. Hopefully I won't see any problems because of the weight difference but so far so good. There is no rake and I haven't rubbed so we'll see.

Marioman, did the Tokico Illuminas drop your car any further? I contacted Koni and their shocks had an adjustable perch that allowed for a drop in ride height of 15mm/front and 30mm/rear. Did the added weight of the 2 10s affect the ride height at all or is this insignificant? I'm still debating on whether I should go with Comptech or Eibach, but the first thing I'm gonna do after getting springs is throw in 2 10s also (probably Infinity Perfects).

cmark, don't you have H&R Sport springs? Those drop a bit more than H&R OE Sports.

The part # for the OE's is 51858-55 and is the same spring for the TL and Accord. H&R makes three versions of their spring kits: OE Sport, Sport and Race. Here are some pics with the H&R OE's:

Tinman,

Yep that was the car I was referring to. Definately my style. I remember having a lot of issues with my Integ having a 2-3" drop. I believe the HR OE springs will suit my kind of style the best. I really dont want to worry about camber adjustment, and worn tires too much.

spiroh, I had the car aligned last week and the rear camber is a bit out, even with the minimal drop of the OE's. The left rear is -1.32 and the right rear is -.99 degrees. Not too bad. All other specs are within normal range. I had them align the car with me sitting in it to get the most accurate reading.

oonowwindoo, it's helpful to others to mention what level of the H&R's you have. You must have the Sport or Race springs if it dropped 2". Look in the wheel well for the color of your springs. Grey = OE, Black = Sport, Red = Race.

tinman,

Well, I'm not sure which ones I have anymore. I just told my shop to put some springs in to lower the car and I came out happy. They said the OE's won't do that much so I assumed they put in the Sports. Is there a cost difference between the OE Sports and Sports? I paid $180 for the springs.
After looking at your pics, my car is a little bit lower (1.25 inches wheel gap all the way around). Is there an H&R site that indicates how much drop is given from each type of spring?
Either way, I'm happy with the look regardless of the model of spring.

Tinman,

Is that bad? Somebody was saying that the comptechs, only were off by -1 degree? Does that mean we would be better off getting the comptech springs, as far as camber is concerned?

cmark: Your shop is correct if they meant that the OE's don't give a radical drop, but the springs definitely improved handling and with a conservative drop. All three versions of the H&R's are the same price (list at $255). If you're curious which version you've got, get a flashlight and look in the wheel well to find the color of your springs. The post above lists what the color coresponds to. At hrsprings.com, they list the drop for the TL (CL is not listed) as follows: OE Sport = .75F .50R, Sport = 1.75F 1.5R, Race = 1.75F 1.5R. Those measurements aren't correct though based on what I’ve seen.

spiroh: The Helms manual lists rear camber for a "Standard or New" CL at -.5 degrees, +/-1 degree. Meaning anything within +.5 and -1.5 is okay. I think Jens said in a post a while back that normal is up to -1.1 degrees. I don't think it's that far out of whack to get camber kits but I will be keeping an eye on the inner part of the rear tires at the next tire rotation. A little negative camber is great for cornering and as long as it's below roughly -1.5, I don't think the tires will wear any quicker. At one point, I inadvertently ran -2.5 degrees on the fronts in my other car and while it was great for cornering, the inner part tire wore pretty badly.
