either get the P2R spacer and gaskets like i did or buy a 3-4" intake tube and extend the pipe because the automatic intake is shorter than a 6spd because we dont have the vsa an automatic has....gl

On the other hand, P2r had a guy do an independant dyno against his comptech icebox and P2R 4" intake, and gained 10 more whp over the comptech, and he had nowhere near the mods as the P2R accord does.
Essentially, you do wanna suck in as much air as you shoot out, but i think that with that case, he was sucking in a lot more air than he was shooting out the exhaust...
dunno if all of that was relevant to what you were trying to make a point on, but I just wanted to add...
It couldnt have made 10whp more. The ice box already makes 11whp and iirc, it was 2 or 3 whp more. I was part of the group by a while ago when thry first were making it. And they have a velocity stack like design ( cant thing of the right word) so they helps out rather then a 4" pipe clamped on the tb

The auto has the VSA unit attached to the throttle body, whereas the manual dsnt have vsa, so the auto looks like it has 2 throttle bodies kind of. So yes they are different, the manual has longer piping.

I can see the velocity stack helping add a few extra hp, but doubling the hp from going from comptech to custom piping seems like too much to me. You are still limited by the size of the tb, and without using forced induction to force more air in, I dont see where a 11 whp jump is possible without a bigger tb. I did replace the rubber joints that come with the comptech unit tho, because they are smaller then the pipe diameter on the inside.

i think you have something there. Im sure the icebox can be modified to maximize the flow by replacing some of the plastic with aluminum and such, and i would agree that it doesnt make a whole lotta sense to get a 4" intake and have a 2.75" throttle body, but until they have another option for us, then thats what we have to deal with...
