Beltronics Laser Defense System

I saw one of these at the store today... I hadn't seen it before. Looks like it has emitters that go on both the front and rear of the car. 2 front, 1 rear.

Sounds cool... but it was $350 buckaroos. Wow, it had better work.

Anyone know anything about this?

Beltronics Laser Defense System

I've received 2 tix by laser so far... I sure would like to use some kind of countermeasure if I could since laser detectors (even the worlds most awesome detector, the V1 ) are useless against them.

The things do work, I have a K40 brand version of the same thing in my M5, works great, have been caught once while using it, but countless misses running at or near 100. You DO have to slow down once the thing goes off, they're only good up to about 200 feet, then his IR coming out of the laser gun is more powerful than what you're putting out, but you usuallly get 800 or so feet of warning, which, sometimes, is the difference in 110MPH clock and a 55 MPH clock <g>. BTW---you can get it @ circuit city for $299.

With this device, you've driven past the cops at 100mph with laser and didn't get caught? Tell us more.

I have it and it works great. I tested it w/ the local PD. I will say at close range, less than 25', their gun did burn thru and got a reading but at the average range the cops use they could not get a reading - front or rear. Works great.

I had the Blinder M-10 before this which worked great too but doesn't protect from some of the newer guns.

Didn't get ticketed there... but I sure have seen them at that spot.

I seem to be a laser magnet. I bet I've been shot 15 or 20 times driving around Austin, and just about always by a motorcycle cop. And damn that noise coming from the V1 scares the sh*t out of me!

My last laser ticket was on IH35, but in Fort Worth in a nice 45 mile per hour (but the fu&king road is 5 lanes wide! Too bad I was doing 77. Ouch. Scam'o'rama.

Just getting back to the post...I've not driven BY the cops at 100+...I've been lasered @ 100+ and slowed down to the limit before the cop got a reading on my speed.

whenever my V1 goes crazy.... I pull over to slow lane and blend with traffic... on this trip from Nashua to Montreal. the V1 saved me like 3 times at least ... even my mom was impressed and she never saw Radar D. before... Now she would be an expert by next trip .... Full Strength Ka signal and the crazy brap is tough to just ignore...

This is for laser only. It's effective. I have one on both cars now.

Then I have 2 questions:

Will the next generation of laser guns make this obselete?

And is this legal?

Some states have made it illegal. Cali being one of them. When jamming, most guns show an error code, an error the cop sees about 25% of the time when using the gun. He clears the error and tries again. By that time you've slowed down and disabled the jammer allowing him to get a reading and hopefully averting suspicion. Newer guns actually show "jammed" in the display. If it illegal in that state you're screwed. If not, jam away until you've slowed.

With every new generation there's some new technology and I can't answer if it will be effective or not but I use mine knowing it will work on 99% of the guns already out there. It takes time for the new, more expensive guns to come down so odds are you're going to be able to jam them. I'll take those odds.

It's the same as using a detector. You can't beat an instant on if you're in range and the only car out there but you still use a detector b/c chances are it will save you for the majority of the traps.

my one friend was talking about getting one called (i think) Rocky Mt Radar. It's a jammer/dectector. cause like I guess on radar it sends "3 shots" that hits your lisence plates(that's reason I know In Ohio on Temp tags they've started putting little metal strips on them). well this gives like 3 "false readings" he said the first is lke 10 mph 2nd like 150 mph and 3rd is your actual speed. well the gun is confused and it won't give the cop a reading on the gun. but the only thing I don't like about it is that will have to piss off the cop and he'll just follow you and look for something little you did and then ask you if you got a jammer

Well said. But what is not illegial is radar absorbing paint.

That combined with a lasar jamer, NEVER WOULD U GET A SPEEDING TICKET AGAIN!
well unless they pace u

But then you'd get zero radio reception and your cell phone wouldn't work. The military tried putting that material on their ships and vehicles and they had all sorts of communication problems!!

Wait u sure that would be the case? I mean a radar jamer would only jam radar guns, which run on a certain frequency. Sooooo I wouldn't think that a radar jamer would harm things such as radio which run on a lower Hrz; I believe.
