Week 5. It was actually last week. A surprise coming soon, one you never saw coming, and no it's not done.

We'll, I've lost track of the weeks at this point. Progress has been a little slow with the holidays coming up. I'm waiting on the mid plate and front motor plate to secure the motor to the car. It's an exercise of on again off again make, modify refit, etc. the other problem is starter location. We have decided that the best place for the starter is on the bottom of the motor under the pan. (the reason can't be explained in simple words) In order to fit that, I had to make the order for a dry sump pan which will take a couple weeks and also order the dry sump to fit it on the motor at the same time for clearance/fitment considerations. Once that is worked out, then it's time to drill the holes to mount the tranny to the midplate, then fabricate the tranny crossmember. Think about that engineering problem, the alignment of tranny to motor..

I have made some cool progress. At last writing, it was in the making. Fiberglass one piece front end, doors, rear bumper and trunk deck are now finished. The doors aren't pictured because I forgot to take pics of them(they are a fraction of the weight of the stock doors), thought I did, but didn't. I think my camara plays tricks on me sometimes. I'll post the doors up later. The front end, you have to have vision, some may not like the raised hood, but it's necessary for the intake clearance.

the mold....One piece frontend..

Trunk & Mold..Rear Bumper and mold..

Meant to say one more thing. I changed my mind on the front wheels, I've decided to go with these. The others, everyone has, soon though, everyone will have these too.

Hey Jim
Your car is coming out very good. I am glad to see you are making alot of progress. Hey just a heads up, make sure you dont finalize anything with turbo sizing yet as NHRA has sold the series to NOPI, and the turbo size limite might be raised a little. NOPI allows for V8's to run in the same class that you will be required to run in, and because of this, they allow bigger turbo sizes for 6 cylinder cars. The rule book should be posted within the next month or two.

Also if you need any help with intake design, just give me a call, we love to work on custom builds. You should come by my shop soon too, we did some changing around on our V6 Civic & Accord, that you might like to see. You might also like to see how my turbo pistons came out & what I did for bigger head studs.

Well keep posting updates as they come. I can't wait to see how the motor sits in the car.

sweet.

$$$$ i I wonder the similarities and subtle diffrence in looking at such a project frm the frame and setup of a NSX since its already RWD (thinking its going to be more of a body fab if one gets a NSX frame to accomodate the CL body on it with precision) well theres still going to be engine mounts and Tranny Hicups)

hey this is all in speculation ??? just my thoughts running

Been a few weeks, but still here. I've been in a holding pattern for some parts to come in and motor plate headaches. It should start coming together quickly again once I drop of the truckload of parts this week.

The cup holder... haha. I get it! Yeah, they did do a very good job and they left me the molds to make more if I need too. I'll tell you, the doors are a fraction of the weight of the steel doors, probably 50-60 lbs lighter each. No kidding.

Yeaaaa- motor plate done, flywheel is the next hurdle. More on that one later, few weeks for sure. Here's a few more odd's and ends, dry sump, dampner(SFI 18-1), tranny. The fuel pump is on order and attaches to the back of the pump. As for the front motor plate, that's another headache, more on that later. We have to mount the mock motor up in the car to work on placement of pump and front motor attachment to the frame. Too complicated and lengthy to explain. Enjoy.

BTW, Merry Christmas to all and if you don't participate in Christmas, have a good Holiday.
