Battery Help
I knew there was something else...
My battery is pretty much dead and I was planning on getting a group 34 Optima Yellow, but it almost $200. How do the DieHard gold or SUV batteries do in comparison?
I am really looking for the ability to play some music with the engine off, and then be able to start it. I have had to be jumped a lot recently. The dealer says that battery is basically dead.
Thanks.

I say this because I put a DieHard gold in my 2000TL last year because the car was over 3yrs old & going into another winter with the original battery. There is nothing that is wrong with the Diehard except the battery cover that comes on the car will not fit over it.
I took a car care seminar from Pat Goss of the PBS TV show Motor Week last year just after getting my new battery. He was saying how the plastic battery cover was important & ofcourse mine was thrown away because it won't fit over the Diehard. The plastic cover was designed to prevent gases from the battery & stuff like corrosion that the gases cause. He said with batteries like the Optima this is not present do to its design. Pat Goss said people would be surprised just how much money car makers spend on designing things like that plastic cover that is over the battery. I asked what would be the problem with not having the cover. He said just watch around the terminals for corrosion & keep clean not a big deal but the cover prevented alot of this. This is why he said the Optima is better by not making gasses like regular batteries you don't need that cover. Then you have the other great qualities of the Optima. So just get the Optima & pay the extra money this is what I should have done.
