battery
i have a question for you guys, i got my car in may so it's been about 11 months now. i don't think i've changed the battery yet. but last night i guess i accidentally left the light on in the car. and about 10 hours later when i came outside it was still on...i never realized it was still on. so do you think i should get a new battery? or how do you tell how much longer you can use the one you have? thanks

I left my lights on one night by accident in my garage. I left the key in the ignition so they did not turn off. The next day my CLS was bone dead. I jumped it and drove it around for about an hour and it has been fine since. That was 5 months ago.

u don't need to replace it. if you want to, however, go ahead because the stock battery is so weak. only 550 amp battery for a car with so many electric equipment is ridiculous. Delco batteries are junk anyway.
but it's fine, just replace it with a higher power one when it dies for good.

A carbon pile load test, should be able to at least tell you how GOOD or BAD the battery is.
When you need a new one, there are some really good batteries out there. However, I keep hearing about some issue with mounting different ones in ours.
Sears used to give free battery tests -- do your have any "chain" stores that offer the service?
If you do finally want a battery, get one of the Optimas, or other high density, long life, sealed jobs. They make some batteries that weight half as much, half the size, with twice the cranking power and total watt-hours.

Heck NO, that battery should last 4-5 years! There are better batteries available, but unless you are running a lot of extra amplifiers, the stock one will do fine for a long time!!
