Bad Seatbelt Retraction

Everytime I get out of my 2001 Acura 3.2CL Type S (non-nav) the seatbelts dont retract.

I have noticed that I have the brakes pushed when I open the door, so the Seatbelts dont retract, I cannot get out of the habbit of keeping my foot on the brake peddal. Is there something else that I can do to fix the seatbelt retraction???

Yeah, I hate our weak-ass seat belt retractors.
My friend has an '01 Volvo S60 and his seatbelts retract so fast you gotta watch out or the damn thing'll take your hand clean off!

Definitely one of the few negatives about the car. It's annoying.

The one in my maxima retracted so fast, while swinging it out of the way one time, it made a nick in the window tint...

I've heard that they are meant to do this so they will be less likely to hit the window while they are retracting.

from what i understnad, it is intentionally built so that it does not damage the window.

Then why not cover the buckle in Rubber over metal and still use it?? you can leave the center part open or exposed metal, so the grip of the seatbelt would be the same.

When I had my 30K done, I asked them to look at the seat belt retractor. They replaced the complete unit, and no more problems (well, once in the last four weeks it hung up).
