Audio Upgrade
Thinking of upgrading the car's oem radio and speakers and was wondering what some of you guys had. The stock radio isn't all that bad but I'm somewhat of an audiophile and a bit of a techie so I'm definitely considering the upgrade.

old school alpine 9835 running an active set up
dynaudio components
jl audio 12w6v2
two zapco amps.
there are a lot of raw drivers choices to get great sound quality for a third of what I spent on my dynaudios... how much are you looking to spend ? what are you looking to get out of the stereo ?? what kind of music do you generally listen to ??

My car has the BOSE speakers they sound good. I'll keep the bose speakers for mids. Upgrade the front tweeters. Then put in an amp and subs later. For deck I'm going with a dvd and navigation unit.

Wound up going with this Pioneer AVH series cd/dvd deck with sirius and pioneer appradio which works nicely with waze. All in all I'm pretty satisfied but for some reason theres a hum coming from the speakers as I accelerate that gets louder based on how fast I'm going. Bringing it back tomorrkw to get checked but does anyone here have any siggestions? Left everything else stock for now just replaced the head unit.. my buddy who did the install said it could be the alternator, won't know for sure until tomorrow.

you need a ground loop isolator.

yeah, your ground is bad. They more than likely, 99%, didn't install a ground loop isolator. You really shouldn't need it.
Your alternator is fine. Your installer didn't do it properly.
Also something that may be an issue is these cars have a factory amp, which requires a little box to set the output levels correctly. That way the amp isn't getting a boosted/crappy signal from an aftermarket HU.
