Is this anyway to run an auto dealership? Yup!
I brought the car in to my dealer (Park Avenue) for a number of reasons. Spoke to Tom, Peter, and Wayne.
Issues
1) Brake problems. Braking vigorously from highway speeds the front of the car would rumble, pull, violently vibrate, and generally not slow me down fast enough. A big problem.
2) The "Check Engine" light had been constantly on for about 3 weeks. No biggie I'm told but the manual does warn about possible unwarrantiable repairs should the owner fail to act.
3) Oil change.
4) Loaner request
Results :
1) Brakes. They resurfaced the front rotors and put in new pads.
2) "Check Engine" light. I was told that this was due to a vapor lock. Even though I played around with the gas cap many times trying to get that light off, I couldn't. Peter said that after adjusting the gas cap something had to be reset. Makes sense.
3) Oil change. 5 qts of oil and 1 oil filter.
Total Fee, parts and labor = $0
1) I know many might argue correctly that the brakes and the sensor system are covered by the warranty. I'm not sure though about paying for new pads. These were also included free. Should they have been?
2) "Check Engine" light. Car rides the smooth and the same and I'm glad not to be staring at that light anymore.
3) A FREE OIL CHANGE!! Well we all know that oil changes aren't expensive but still, a free one is still cool to receive.
4) Use of a teg loaner for 5-6 hours.
I mainly mention this small episode because of the people and philosophy over at Park Avenue. Especially the Service Dept! They were working hard and long dealing with the mess from the fire. Peter showed me places outside the bay area (the area of the fire) such as the customer waiting area where the black from burning rubber could be found in drawers and other nooks and crannies. These had to be cleaned along with the major job of reconstituting the garage area and some of this while dealing with law enforcement and their restrictions. Anyways Wayne, Tom, Peter, and of course Jens and all of you guys over at Park Avenue, you are the best. Thanks and Happy New Year!
