Anyone try all-season Toyo FZ4??

In my quest for a better all season tire, I found the Toyo FZ4, in 235/45ZR17 97W.
It has the speed rating, the weight rating, all season, and the revs are very close to stock, these are 822 while stock is 818.

Has anyone tried these? The rims it fits on shows 7.5 - 9. Think they would fit fine on our stock 7" rims?
Also, any thoughts on if these would have the alignment problems that people have reported on the T1-S?

If need be to fit on our stock rims, they also have it in 225/45ZR17 94W* (reinforced), but the revs show as 835. This is about 2% more than stocks. So would the spedo read 2% over or 2% under??

Someone here had them or has them...

Both the 235 and 225 are reinforced (check to make sure), I know for a fact that the 225/45 and 235/45-17s in the T1S are reinforced (and the load ratings are a give-away)...

As for fitting -- the 225s will fit -- no brainer...

The 235s will fit, but alignment is a hassle with the T1S Proxies on stock 7" wide rims.

You can generally go 1/2" over (and BMW and others have) on the rim width, but you’re technically over the limit; if you have problems, don't expect too much sympathy...

With the 225, the speedo will read HIGHER than you are actually going.

Thanks.
So BMW goes 1/2" over width, where I am looking to go 1/2" under width.

The 225/45zr17-94W were measured with a 50psi inflation. So if I run them at 35psi, the revs should be lower, thus even closer to stock.

So if 225's are 2% under:
spedo actual
25 24.5
55 53.9
75 73.5
100 98

Doesn't seem too bad, assuming the spedo is accurate to begin with.

1. Correction BMW (on their M3) has gone 1/2" under the recommended minimum rim width size (not to be confused with the measuring rim size); others have gone 1/2" over the max. width size.

2. RE: revs/mile and pressure -- I don't know about that. My Toyo 235/45-17 T1S proxies seem dead on (from the NAVI's perspective [lost signal for more than 1 hour and the car's position was dead on]).

3. With less pressure, the loaded radius would be smaller (tire flatter); this means the tires will be off by more (speedo >= 2%). I would expect the revs/mile or loaded radius would be a very accurate indicator vs. the stock OEM tire figures for speedo offset data.

Where did you get the 50psi as being used for the revs/mile, etc? The Toyo sheet is not always correct on some items!

If you don't mind me asking, where did he get them and how much??

They look like great tires, but the price....

The 225/45/17 are close to stock, 829 revs per mile (stock is 819)

Thanks!

he's got 17 x 7's , and stuck with the stock 225/50 for his maxima. he paid 199 per tire at costco, got $50 rebate, then paid a couple bucks per tire for mount, balance, and tire replacement plan. I think he spent just under $850 total.

for our car, i want to get 225/45, just for performance purposes.

I got that tire on my civic for almost 2 years and they pretty good all-season high performance tires. The grip on wet and dry are excellent, ride comfort is very good, and has very nice tread design. Excellent tire IMO for a high performance all-season tire..

Here is why I am tending to stay away from the Mich Pilot Sport AS:

The 225/45/17 size is only rated for a weight of 90, way below what we need so this size it out. You would be better off with the 225/50/17, but the revs show as 795. The diameter is another inch and would help cover up our large gap.

The 235/45/17 has the load weight (93 but don't know if its an extra load tire) and the revs are fairly close at 811.

i have the FZ4's. I like them alot. Much better than the stock Michelins. Great wet traction as well as dry. Very good looking tread pattern also. I have a friend that has an extra set that he is looking to sell so if you are interested please let me know. they are 225/40/18...

Great, though since you are in Texas I take it you haven't tried them in the snow

Since you have them in 225/40/18, I checked toyo's site, and the revs on the FZ4 at this size is 831. You didn't indicate any spedo issues, so I should be fine with my tire size with 835 revs.

I think I will go with the Toyo FZ4 in 225/45/17 on stock rims. The 1.9% the spedo may be off (819 revs vs 835 revs) shouldn't be noticable, and I won't have any alignment issues.
I think the look of the extra bulge the 235/45 gives on the 7" rim may look a bit funny, and I don't really want any rubbing/scratching the edge of my rims.
