Anyone raced a new 350Z yet?

i just got my new CL-S and my friend is soon gonna get a 350Z so we got to wondering which one was faster so id thought id ask if anyone has raced a Z yet? stock theyve got 20somethin more hp than us, but i donno about the torque or weight factors. we would figure it out for ourselves but he wont get his Z for another month or so. i kinda thought the Z would have the edge (stock vs. stock) but wasnt sure. so, anyone?!

if it's an manual and the person knows how to shift then the Z will win without question. If it's an automatic and you are manual then you have a shot but even then.....

stock z will kill a stock cl-s, no matter what transmission either have.

a stock manual z will kill a highly modded auto cl-s. anything short of f/i or 3.5L upgrade will get beaten. i know from experience. i raced one at the track, i ran a 14.33, he ran a 14.23, bone stock.

it was 75 degrees and fairly humid. i'd say thats a good average time for a manual z.

I was told that a Z with I/H/E/Cams made 257 whp NA... so I am sure a CL-S with enough work can keep up - traction is the problem!

They average low 14s and I think one dude got a high 13 stock. 14.1-14.2 seems to be the average for auto Z's, for the 6-speed high 13s.

samer007 and his bro were at the track, his bro got a auto Z, they were even like 9.4 1/8th. he has i/h so i think the cl-s would edge off the z in the 2nd 1/8th

for average numbers, i'd say mid 14's for the auto, low 14's for the 6mt. very low 14's.

Auto vs auto: If I'm running upper 14s with a FWD detuned version of the same motor (255hp VQ35DE), the new Z with its 287hp VQ and RWD should run low 14s consistently.

most auto max's don't run as quick as you have.

i stand by my above statement for average times on stock Z's.

i've run w/ them before. and i'll be at the strip w/ at least 2 6mt track models in september. so, we'll see.

The Auto Z runs low 14's (~14.2-3) most of the time according to most track times on the Z board. The torque and closely spaced tranny make it pretty fast. My friend has an Auto Z and I race him all the time with my Manual Z. It's fairly close.

Allmotor: I don't believe they have H/Cams available for the Z yet. From many of the dyno's I have seen, the Z gets approx 240-245hp at the wheels. The 250+ hp is probably from a Z with an Intake or Exhaust only.

BTW just for a reference, my Z feels significantly faster than my old Auto CLS that ran a ~14.4 in the 1/4

What's the point in racing an NA 350Z with a S/C'd CL-S... that's like someone in an S/C'd 350Z wanting to race an NA CL-S?

Yes... its fun to spank some of these cars on the freeway or wherever if your car is significantly quicker... but to have real bragging rights... I think the race should be more fair.

Humbug! For the record, that was me, and before my car was past the break-in period and before I knew how to launch it. I'll wager you a decaf Grande light-foam Latte that I'll keep up or surpass you next time we try.

And don't forget who you were struggling to match pace with on the first two legs of the last twisty run...:P

Yes they do run that on average some are even a tad quicker most all of the ones here in the Dallas area are in that range that run. Even a few guys at G35.com that has both auto 02 Maximas are running mid to mid high 14's in the Max quicker than some G35 times over their. I have both a 03 350 auto my wife cant drive manuals and an 03 auto Max again my wife, and my best time in the z was 14.11 and in the Max 14.67 both stock.

maybe you did run a 14.67. but the average time of an auto max isn't gonna be that good.

doesnt anybody understand what the word average means

not the best, not the worst, but average.

I understand what it means and I said all of my buds which is quite a few 20+ with 02/03's(Dallas/Austin,Tx area) run in the mid to mid high 14's with autos so I have a good reason to say its an average.

i doubt you will either Mike. i raced a 6 speed at the strip, left him at the light, and he could not reel me in. he ran a 1/10 sec. quicker et than i did, but i was gone.

whoever wins gets a venti of their choice, and a lb. of coffee from me.
