Anyone raced any 99+ GT's?

I've never ran a CL-S, was wondering what kind of a race it'd be. It looks like they run low 14's in the 1/4 so I guess it'd be pretty close. My best time is a 13.65@102mph. But from a highway roll I think it'd be a good run. Here's a pic of mine, maybe one of you atlanta area people have seen it.

naw...

Your car modded would be too much for a CL sans nitrous.... bone stock a CL-s 6MT runs around mid 14's... I don't htink I've seen faster than 14.5 for a 6-MT. Modded CL-s 6-MT can probably run really low 14's and maybe... really high 13's.

Nice looking stang! The only NA car who would give you a good run would be Allmotor but he's in Cali.

To bad I'm out here in Cali, we could run um. You're a little quicker, but I have a few new mods in the works.

I have beat more 99+ stangs than I have lost to, but that still is only 4 or 5 races(all at the track). I only lost to one who was modded and ran a 14.5 to my 14.8(this was at a track with 2700 ft elevation). I have beat a 99GT Vert auto by .6 sec, and a couple of 5 speeds by a little less than that.

But then again, I don't drive a CL either. MY PB is only 14.7, but that is in 92 degree heat at 2700 feet. Corrected like the magazines do, would put me around 13.7@98. You're still faster, with much better trap speed. My best races are 1/8th mile or less due to my relatively low traps.

Thanks for the compliments Yeah I think a modded CL-S would be good from a roll, even if their 1/4 was a 14 or so. The CL-S has luxury and speed though, mustangs are speed only . hehe.

Nicely done stang. With those mods and that time almost any CL N/A is gonna have a hell of a time from a stop.

That is a nice looking Mustang.

It is also really nice to see a humble Mustang driver stop by. There are a couple others around here but generally the Mustang people aren't as open minded as you sound. I have played with Mustangs on the highway and haven't had too much of a problem but I can't really say that I would be faster off the line or that playing on the highway is a fair judge of speed. I have a lot of respect for Mustangs.

Now if only the V6 mustangs would be phased out....

Nice looking ride there; what part of Atlanta are you located?? From the picture, which is very nice I must add, I cannot determine the location but I'll take a guess. Based on the hardwoods nearby and the style homes I am guessing anywhere from the middle of the top end perimeter to or near Roswell. Just a guess though which I will most likely be incorrect...

I'm up in the Woodstock area (Towne Lake area actually) but have lived in the north/east Cobb area most of my life.

Where do you normally run at, Atlanta Dragway or Silver Dollar??

I can't say I have seen that vehicle but something about it does ring a bell.

BTW, a stock 6-Speed may run an average of mid 14's with a 5-Speed Auto turning an average of high 14's. So stock versus your vehicle would not too close. With headers and intake, both transmission styles can drop about a half second; so still outside your territory. With the addition of the blower to my car I may be able to give you a run but most likely you will get me out of the hole.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm usually open minded about most cars, except for some of the ricers, hehe. It's fun to learn about other cars besides Stangs.

Yeah, the V6 Stangs need to be phased out, or given a big boost in HP. I had a V6 stang before this one btw, an automatic at that, he he . I'm in Vinings, just inside the intersection of 285 and 75 (northwest ATL). I run at Atlanta Dragway usually but I have made a few passes at Silver Dollar, and Dallas drag strip (shitty 1/8th mile track). I'm up around the Kennesaw area a lot, specifically Barrett Pkwy. We could cruise up to the drag strip sometime if you wanted

I think if you had a blower, that'd be pretty damn quick, hehe. What kind of HP/torque does a blower typically add? A supercharger @ 8 psi on mine will make about 360-375rwhp and about the same torque #s. I'm saving up for one but it'll be a while, $4300 doesn't come easy!

I was up at Atlanta Dragway tonight actually, with a friend who has a '95 V6 stang automatic :o he was running low 16's @ 85. Which isn't bad for the slowest V6 stang made, lol. I also snapped a badass shot of mine as I was leaving.

Well, I was pretty close, within a few miles, of naming the location. My office is near Barrett Parkway and 41 so I spend considerable time in the area.

I almost went up to Atlanta Dragway last night but with twin girls due very soon my wife didn't feel too comfortable with me heading to the track right now. I've been to Atlanta Dragway numerous times over the years and down to SDR once on a nasty day las summer. This was about two months after getting the car which ended with a best of 14.36@98.26. This was a little higher than expected but decent relative to the conditions and good in comparison to other cars that day. The below run was against my father-in-law:

CL-S6 versus SC430

I may have some issues sorted out now with my blower installation and need to head to the dyno. But it should put down around 300 WHP and 270 WTQ. I laid down 247 WHP and 213 WTQ last December with an intake and headers. The blower kit for the CL only puts out about 4 PSI boost so it is mild. I tried a higher boost pulley which took it to near 6 PSI but knock was present too much which is a problem with an engine running 10.5:1 CR.

Mine is a stock looking CL-S6 and meant to be my main transportation so the mild SC kit is enough (I say that now but who knows down the road). It still runs smooth and a pleasure to drive in the Atlanta traffic.

I'll look for your car around town...

Nice looking Stang

Give me some slicks and headers and I'll try giving you a run in my Stang. I won't run 102 mph, but 13.6 may be possible.

I plan on stroker/TW Heads/TFS Intake/Custom Cam for my Mustang and hopefully get some respect from the LS1 guys

How do you like the Nitto's? I've got 315/35/17's 555R's and like em a lot.

hey....

Mustang 5650.... Check out the Kenne Bell twin screw blower for the 4.6 2V.... 380rwhp, 400ft-lb @ 9psi... that's a beast! I have the hookup on one (it just got finished being designed) and *might* be able to get one hooked up for around 3k... I wanna run DarrinB in my stock GT before I put the blower on though, otherwise, it might not be as fun for either of us.... LOL

Nice Stang!

I just ran a 2001 or 2002 GT this morning on the way to work. Looked stock.... I think. Had him by 1-car in 3rd and about 3-4 cars around 120mph in 4th gear - I think he was surprised

Hey StangDriver5650, were you in Towne Lake Hills East yesterday evening in Woodstock?? If not an identical Steeda Mustang was driving through my neighborhood following, what I recall, was a silver TA.

I was out washing my cars when the Steeda Mustang came by and I could certainly hear it when it got out on Towne Lake Parkway.

I'm quoting myself here...

Anyway, I saw the car again the other evening while running in the neighborhood near the tennis courts/basketbal courts/play ground.

I'm not a big fan of the Steeda Wing.

I've raced plenty of 99+ stangs, some with blowers and have no problems most of the time.

Nice ride-it looks pretty sweet. I was curious, do you have any altezza lights? My pony has them and the girls love it-but then again I don't have to explain that to you, you're a Mustang owner.

Altezza's look disgusting on any Mustang and I dislike them on every year. Some of the all red & carbon fiber taillights don't look so bad on certain colors, but the altezza's are just plain ugly, imo.
