Anyone here from California with an '01 CL S?
Relates to the question I posted earlier this eve, but, perhaps someone here can give me the answer I need in a different manner.
If someone with an '01 CL S that was sold new in California could just look under their hood for 60 seconds and report back here, that would be great.
I need you to look at the emissions sticker that would be in the upper left hand corner of your hood when you're standing in front of the car with the hood raised.
My '01 CL S says that it meets US EPA and NLEV standards and Cdn. Tier 1 standards for the 2001 model year(I'm paraphrasing).
Does your California CL S say anything different....something like it meets California emission standards?
Thanks in advance for your hood rais'n efforts.

uhh, actually it is important that I know for sure if your emission sticker says something different.
Did you look at your emissions sticker and are you confirming that it simply said that your car (an '01 CL S)conforms to US EPA and NLEV standards for the 2001 model year and says nothing about California standards specifically?

I just checked that sticker for ya...
it says: "This vehicle to U.S. EPA NLEV regulations applicable to 2001 model year new LEV passenger cars and California regulations applicable to 2001 model year new LEV passenger cars."
does that help?

yes, it does. Thanks very much for checking. The fact that there is a specific California reference means that I'll have to check further to see whether there is an emissions control difference between my car and CL S's sold new in California that would prevent my vehicle from being registered there.

I just spoke with a rep at Acura Client Services who advised that all CL Type S's (Cdn or US) were built identically as far as emissions and safety standards was concerned and indicated they will issue me a compliance letter to give to US customs and registration authorities in California to indicate that the car complies with all requirements.
I asked the fellow what the "ULEV" stamp on top of the engine represented if the engines all had the same emissions levels and he was unsure why certain engines had that different stamp, but, said that non ULEV stamped vehicles still complied.
