Why is he getting a new car? How much can that damge be, coulpe hundred bucks?

If he wants a maxima, go for an '02. Same engine as the new one but it weigh's like five hundred pounds less which equates to one fast sedan.

Yes, both your brother and Nissan are Nuts.

Oh hes not getting rid of the car because of the accident, he just wants to get rid of it since it has over 100k miles.

Plus he wants a bigger car for the family. So a 02 maxima wont cut since it has a tight back seat.

Tight back seat?:sqnteek:

I'm 6' and fit fine sitting in the back seat of my mom's 2001 Max and shes 5' 10". The old maxs are not small at all.

Yes, much more roomier than the 97. That was actually what she had before the 2k1. I'm not sure about the size of the 04s though, but the back may get tight depending if its four bucket seats or what, now that they have that whole extended center console.

Just looked on Nissan's website. The elite package=4 bucket seats.

Just got rid of my Max 2001 20th Anniversary!!! Tight ride with good torque but I'm much happier with my 2003 CL Type-S 6spd. I would kick the shit out of my Max!

O.K. I don't care what a noob means but my point is, sure if he wants a MAX then so be it. If he wants the room with a little more hus than by all means get him involved with the Honda/Acura product. But like most of us, if he wants the shit and he has the $$$ he should obviously go with an M3.

1. A m3? The car is for his family and i been talking about rear cabin room so why would he want a coupe.

2. Also he doesnt want to spend more than 33k.

3. He needs a car bigger than anything honda/acura offers (minus the RL). I been trying to him to buy the new TL but he says its small in the back.

4. A noob is a newbie who talks out of his ass.

I personally think my brother is like jrock and just likes to make excuses about every car just so he doesnt have to spend the money.

Hear ya hard core. I am a noob when it comes to this page. However, I've owed a 84 and 89 prelude and a 2001 Max 20th annivarsary so believe when I speak that I know about cars. It's been in my blood since I was about 10, so don't think I'm a noob when it comes to cars. Anyway, your bro should go with he thinks will satisfy him and his fam. If want suggestions than just ask.

The Max is completely ugly, I would suggest it only to a retard that has no taste in cars...just my opinion.

If he wants the car tell him not to complain about how ugly it is...

Jesal, do us Brownies a favor and please don't get the new Max, I've heard nothing but shit about it.

For about 35k... new TL, anyone? It's almost as roomy as the 5-series... 97.9 vs 99.1 cu ft.

Ehh..that's exactly what Crazy sellout is doing...he's asking questions about which car his bro should get. Not to make a big scene but you're comparing a 2001 Max with 222hp MT or AT VS. a Cl 6speed?Duh..try comparing a 2002-3 Max 6speed. Sorry to sound so rude, I don't mean it that way.

I apologize. Had a little too much to drink last night and did not read the entire thread. By the way, 2001 20th Anniv. 5 spd. had 227hp and your right, a 2002-3 with 6spd. and 260hp would be a better comparison.

noob-alert, noob alert!!!

Dude, I think the max is a bigger car than the TL and it sounds like thats more important to your bro. Does he want auto or manny? I personally don't think its a bad car but if given the choice I'd go with the TL (best entry-lux FWD sedan in the business for the money).

Have a good one! A6 would be awesome but I'd rather have the new TL.

I might just because he doesnt want to spend too much. He rather spend 25k if he could.. which im sure he could get a 03 maxima for.

$25k for an 03?? You can get them for MUCH less than that around here in the NY/NJ area:

$17.5k for a base SE:
http://www.showauto.com/viewfull.asp?ID=900727

$21.7k for a GLE (w/o Navi):
http://www.showauto.com/viewfull.asp?ID=928995

For a little under $24k, you (he) could even upgrade to an 03 Infiniti I35 (glorified Max GLE):
http://www.showauto.com/viewfull.asp?ID=932534

just my $.02

New Maxima has more in common with an Avalon than the old Maxima. It's just too big now and too much torque steer. It is also the first Maxima built in Tennessee and seems to have the same silly quality issues as the CL/TL.
Funny but the Maxima was actually a sports sedan that did not look like one. Now it looks like one but drives like a UPS truck.

And Crazy, they are selling new 04 Maximas for 25k here in Atlanta at the Nissan dealer. Only morons would pay over 30k for that car.

Finally the new Maxima has been dead last in every comparo and Motor Trend had the A4 beat it in a one on one comparo.

The 6G Maxima's trump card (not unlike the 5G), are the deals you can get on them. In buying most Nissans, the MSRP is just a vague starting point from which to negotiate down the price. The only exception right now may be the 350Z. But judging by plummeting sales (and an explosion of 2003 models on used car lots), the Z will go the same way.

My 2k2 Max stickered @ $27,500 but I got it for $24k......easily. And I'm talking only a few months after the VQ35DE debuted in the Maxima. So Nissan dealers will deal.

Peace.

i test drove the maxima and overall it wasnt to bad. it was a little uncomfortable but it had alot of room and the power was nice. i remember reading in Car & Driver or one of those mags. they had a test drive of 12 cars in that class. i remember the new max came in last overall.

Hey crazy - If he does look at a 2002-2003 maxima, why not look at a 02-04 infiniti I35? The I35s have the soujner (spelling) leather and a much better interior. Same engine as the maxima, and I think the styling is hands down better than the maxima. Also the i35 is 2 inches longer than the max so, it probably has more leg room than the maxima. Retractable navi is cool too (although it's a cd-rom based). I was looking at getting my girl a 02 maxima, but after going to service and I was given a I35 for a loaner, it was pretty nice. My girl was impressed too, and now she doesn't want the maxima .

Another cool thing about the I35: it has the JDM Nissan Cefiro look, for those folks into the JDM scene.

Well he just called and said he drove the new TL and it felt small to him.

He said he wants to pick up a new maxima this week. I guess cabin room is more important to him.

He said one dealer will give him the car at invoice, but he said the price is 32k. Which doesnt add up since hes not getting navi. I need to do more research since hes a fool.
