Anyone have the helms pages for the headlight?
Everyone,
I do plan to buy the helms manual as soon as I file and get my taxes.
However, my drivers side head light is starting that flickering non-sense and before spending the money on a new balast / inverter I wanted to pull it appart to check the ground wires. Then to swap the lights to see if the flickering follows the light or the ballast.
Would someone please post the related text/images from the needed helms pages? Or if possible a link to a thread already discussing this?
I did a search but all I could find for "head light manual" was a bunch of people complaining about spending 800$ at the stealership for headlight repair.
Thanks for any help / comments.

If you pull off the front bumper, headlight removal is nearly self explanitory. The ballast is attached to the bottom of the housing. Seriously, it's really cut and dry. Look below, on Comptech's Icebox install instructions for bumper removal explanation.

lord helmet,
Thanks for the quick and informative reply. This is my first imported car and I just wanted to make sure no hidden bolts or gotchas existed before I messed up I mean fixed my car.
I'll post back and let you know how it goes.

No problem.
Oh, before I forget... there is a screw... Some kind of torx security screw (T25 bit - see Sun's post above) and if I remember correctly, it's on the bulb cover. If you don't have one of those tools, get a very small flat head screwdriver, wedge it in there, and turn. You don't need that torx tool, I assure you.

Find: Silver plate on shift gate?
Anybody know where I can find the silver part on top of the shift gate (Mine is stained) or what it is called? I found this part below on a Acura dealership website but I am not sure if it is right. Thanks for any help.

nelskof, Try calling around to your local junk yards and see if they have any 01-03 CLs. If they do, put them on your list to vist. Some places won't catalog that or don't know if they have it (esp pull it your self places).
Other than that get OEM. As for the part number I have no idea.
To Everyone else,
Thanks for your advice & postings. I am sure this will be very helpful when I goto remove & swap the HIDs to test the problem.

if you do find the correct part number / desc, would you please post it here?
Some members have 02 or 03 CLs and want the chrome ones from the 01. Now I am not saying that they will fit but I am sure someone with some extra cash would confirm or deny this for us if they had the part number(s).

I talked to a guy at an Acura Dealership in S. Florida and he said I would have to buy an entire set just to get the part I wanted. I am not sure about the chrome??? I've looked for it too.
I am just going to paint the part that I have and be done with it. Peb Boys has a spray on paint that is the same color as my car (satin silver) that is supposed to match the paint. I will let you know how this turns out.

I want to thank all for the information from the thread on HID bulb replacement. today I install a new Sylvania HID 35w D2R ($79) of passenger side without removing the bumper (of my 2001 TL)
just loose 2 liquid tanks and push them aside to have room for a full hand, then follow the instruction with the steps:
1. unlock the cover by hand counterclock turn (there is supposed to be a screw to be removed first but obviously the bodyshop who did replacement of front bumpber/Headlight unit - 9 years ago, Sept 12th, 2001, someone stole the headlight from the car my wife parked in the office building garage - didn't add the screw;
2. conterclock turn and take out socket of bulb.
3. take away spring clamp so as to pull out the bulb - I mistakenly unscrewed the spring clamp which costed me a long time to put it back.
4. the old bulb is broken; I had to use fine painting brush to clean out the debris from the little chamber hosting the bulb.
5. put the new bulb in the chamber (notched) and clamp it.
6. put the socket to the end of bulb.
7. put the back cover back and clock turn to tighten it up.
8. replace 2 liquid tank to their orignal position.
9. reconnect battery (- and +).
10. turn on the light and it works. (new bulb from passenger side is brighter than the old bulb from driver side.
very happy (the garage quoted $180 + $80 for parts and labor).
the key is patience and care. I actually used the old broken bulb practicing how to put the bulb into chamber and clamp it before doing the new bulb;
if you dare to remove the bumper and Head light unit out, then it might be better off as the space I worked on is really tiny, perhaps the size of 2 fists. but it worked out.
for driver side, it seems one has to remove the bumper to replace the low beam bulb.
