anyone ever went against a 500 benz
e, clk, or S, cl, or sl
i wonder how i would do against one, i'd think it would be even through 2nd gear then the displacemet would take its toll
i know for 2004 the 500's are gettin 7 speed autos so there gonna be even quicker

AMG, like real AMG not "package" will be the same but maybe to about 30ish then it's over.
CLS, doing mid 14's? Is very respectable IMO...we're taking off the line race against a say, mid 13's car, it will be a close race til they start accelerating past 60ish, tha's been my experience.

my dad had an S500, and my brothers had a 540 and a GS400. Off the line they'd both take me, but on the highway the S5 would just f'ing leave them!

Just bought my wife an E500...so to answer the question of this post...
With 243 mile on the odo, the 2004 E500 beat a CL-S (it had 6 or 7 spoke wheels and clear tails) to 90 by 2 to 3 cars and pulling...3 runs same results.
The CLS had better traction off the line, the E500 burned rubber in the beginning of 1st gear.
After the 3rd run, we gave each other thumbs up and went our ways...
Don't know if the new 7spd Tranny helped the E500 or not....I assume it has shorter gears than the previous 5spd? Don't know...
So there goes your answer.
