Anyone else a member of the "500" club?........
Coming home from Ashville, NC today I ran my car on cruise control at about 75-80mph for 90% of the ride home. The total mileage for the ride was 556 miles....
I filled up before I left and didn't pull over for fuel until the trip odometer read 500.2 miles!!!!!
When I filled up I put in 15 gallons so I averaged 33.3mpg for about 7 hours of continuous driving. So, at that rate I could have made it all the way home if I could get another 66 miles from the 2 remaining gallons of gas.
My gas light came on at 456 miles.
I was pretty psyched to see that big 500 on the trip odometer. I figured that when I pulled over in Virginia I would have gotten blasted by the sniper and never able to tell my story.
Anyone else ever hit mileage like this?

I had to get into it just a couple of times in tight passing situations. For the most part, though, it was such a smooth ride the whole way I really didn't have to do anything but steer.
It got to the point where it became kind of a game to see how many miles I could get under nearly ideal circumstances.

it takes 5hours 30minutes EXACTLY to get from medford to my house, mostly at 70mph on highway 5.
it was 375 miles exactly, and i filled up with gas before i left medford and when i got home. it filled up with 11.064gallons.
375miles / 11.064gallons = 33.89 miles per gallon! that's awesome!
17.1-11.064 = 6.036 gallons still in tank
6.036 x 33.89mpg = 204.56miles
204.56+375miles already driven = 579 miles i could have driven on 17.1gallons

500 is quite impressive indeed.
My best is like 420 miles where I got 32.5 MPG with my Slush-Box CL-S.
My longest trip so far with the 6-Speed has been 400 miles and I averaged about 28.5, but I was doing between 75-85 most of the way.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer is test driving cars with the saleman, and they're trying to see how far they car drive on the "Low Fuel" light...
A classic in American TV...

As posted few weeks ago I got 32.5 twice during our Yellowstone trip with one tank just over 500m. with couple gallons left! Avg. 75-80 and VTech often! 115 and 113mph on 2 occasions! I still loving my CL-S! 23000m.
Are you guys still loving your cars too?!

Funny thing is that I noticed a drop of about 25 miles per tank of gas when I switched from the Michelin Energy's to performance tires. Total miles on average went from 300/tank to 275.
So, with stock tires, the miles would certainly have been even higher.
