24 lbs really isn't that bad. The biggest reason to worry about getting lighter rims is increased performance. And to get a noticeable difference you have to go down to a 15-17lb rim. That can get pretty expensive. TE-37's are $525/each from my local Volk distributor. Too rich for my blood. If you were to go with a 20-22 lb rim you probably wouldn't even notice the difference.

A lot of cast wheels that are out there right now are around the same weight as the stock wheels especially the mid to lower range wheels. If you pay the extra money and buy some good forged wheels from volk, ssr, or mugen then you would definitely see a weight difference. If you wanna play you've got to play. My 18" SSR's weigh a little under 20 lbs and those are for 18's.

Speaking of rims and performance can anyone tell me what performance differences there are between, let's say 20" rims and 17" rims. Are the larger rims better for high speed driving/handeling? and the smaller rims better for 0-60mph times?
Anyone?
Thanks

I just got some 18" BBS RK's with 225/40/18 RE730's from Tire Rack and installed them today....WOW what a difference. Now I just have to get the CompTech springs and sways to fix the 4x4 look.
One thing that really impressed me with the RK's is that the 18's only weigh 18 lbs!!

Don't forget they are keeping things equal. If you get really light wheels (very expensive) they will definitely improve the car's acceleration, and braking. They will also have a lower 'unsprung weight'.
If you go for very expensive (generally forged not cast wheels) you may even get 18" wheels to give you equal or better accel/performance.
There are a ton of member notes through here. Try the search feature on wheels, tires, etc, to find all of the great info.
