Is there even such a thing as LED headlights?? I bought one of those LED flashlight and they seems awfully bright to me.. it just came across my mind that y don't they use this as alternative to HID? and besides with the same amount of energy as HID(35w) shouldn't it be even brighter??? Someone please explain y cars never catch on to LED headlights...

i have leds in my turn signals and side markers and they are really bright but not from all angles only from straight on, are those just big leds in the q45 or are they just seven clumps of little ones with a projector over the top of them?

Multi-Lens Projector Xenon Headlights. The new Q's headlights aren't just a radical-looking design, they're a radical improvement on a basic safety feature. They discharge a high-intensity xenon gas through seven lenses individually aimed to optimize the beam pattern. The result is the most powerful headlights in the world

At the Detroit 2002 auto show Ford unveiled its concept F-series "Tonka" pickup:

Note that all of the exterior lights, including the headlights, are LEDs. Although they are functioning, I'm sure they are still both performance and cost prohibitive at this point. Someday though, it could be a reality.

Those are 7 projectors not LEDS. Well, LED are bright at night...but the light get's washed out during the day time...so DRL isn't an option with LED. The current technology/manufactor/cost effectiveness. the brighter the LED, the narrow the viewing angle. The intensity of the LED is not consistant, it changes with distance and angle.
Having the LED turn signal look nice...but most of the light isn't reflected by the reflectors...it just shine in the direction it's pointed in. Although they are bright, they don't have enough power to light up a wide area to be used effieciently as headlights.
