Any Canadian CL-S owners?
Hi there,
My husband and I are looking at getting a 2002 CL-S. The only dealer invoice information I can find is U.S. The Canadian pricing is quite different ($40,000 Canadian), which is cheaper than the U.S. MSRP.
I'm curious from any Canadian CL-S owners how much they paid below MSRP?
Thanks
Karen

Re: Any Canadian CL-S owners?
Probably doesn't help too much but I live in Edmonton, Alberta and paid $40 100 which included everything (all taxes, freight/pdi, wheel locks, block heater, mud guards, floor mats)except GST (no PST here ) for my 2002 TL-S...

I paid $38,800 back in July '00. If you shop around...or you have some connection in the industry(ie. used car dealer, car wholesaler, someone who works at Honda/Acura, etc.)...I wouldn't be surprised if you could get one for $36,000-$36,500

I paid MSRP @ $40,000 + freight/PDI + 17% tax [GST + PST + luxury tax] in February 2001.
From what SatinSlayer paid and when he did, I now know I paid a bit too much. *OUCH* However, I got the spoiler, mud guards, wheel locks AND a bottle of touch-up paint in the package, which probably doesn't count for much. Surprisingly, I did get $6700 trade-in for my 1994 Ford Probe GT with which I had a $13,000 accident.
I guess it all evens out in the end...
Regards.

MilkBone, I don't mean to upset you or anything like that, but prepare yourself for a rude awakening. I'm not quite sure, but I think some of the other Vancouver members paid even less than me...which leads me to believe that even I paid to much for that time. I think Got PSI paid the lowest for his...maybe he should reply here.

No worries, Satin. Yes, it hurts but I've thoroughly enjoyed my car since I've had it. In the long run, it doesn't amount to much. At least we still pay much less than our American counterparts after exchange... =]
What hurts most right now is the resale/trade-in value on these cars...
Regards.

Thanks everyone!
We actually saw a 2001, brand new with a spoiler and the trunk tray thing, which was $36995 + PDI ($950). Thought it seemed like a good deal, as there are used 2001's with 15,000 km that are selling for more than this....
At least the luxury tax range has been increased so I don't have to concern myself with it.
We haven't even driven one yet - just decided to look as a comparison to a used (1998) Mercedes CLK or BMW 540. We've found an amazing amount of info on this board - you guys are amazing!

I do look forward to any more comments anyone has on this issue - thanks!

You'll find that most of these folks are more than willing to help and answer any questions you have, regardless of what you end up buying. We're glad you find the board useful. Most of us started out just like you. Now we're trapped in here.
Good luck on your search.

A couple of miles up the river and you would have been a hoser too!

Just for your info: The MRSP of a 2002 CL Type S here in Alberta including GST is 40,950. The actual dealer cost for the vehicle including GST is 37,750.

I don't know if I paid the lowest. I purchased my 01' CLS in June 01' for $37 000 (not incl. taxes etc.) with the "Sports Package" and a full nose included. I bought it at Richmond Acura.

Oh, I thought it was you that paid the lowest. There was a thread where everybody posted how much they paid for their CL-S and when. Somebody should find that thread and post a link to it

$37,000 is an awesome deal! Any less and I would have really felt ass-raped... Satin, you had me all worried all night, even though it's really no biggie and I can't do anything about it. I guess I can't pull your typical Vancouverite manouver and bring in my receipt for a price adjustment, huh? =]
I remember seeing the ads in the local papers here for quite a long run for the CL with Sports package - spoiler, moonroof visor, and blackwood guage cluster trim - offered for sticker.
GOT PSI, you seem to have the hook up. We're in the market for a 1.7 EL. Please let me know if you can provide me with a lead.
So there's a west coast meet? Count me in next time [if I am not intruding].
Regards.

GOLD MEDAL IN HOCKEY !!!
How's it goin, eh?
Hot damn, didn't know there were so many Canuckleheads on here.
I bought my used 2001 on Sept 11 (ya, weird coincidence...)
Paid $32K + taxes (that's about $500 American ), and it had about 20K km on it.
Speaking of Canadians -- does anybody know who owns the red CL-S that always parks on the street by Parker Place mall in Richmond? I wanna know what he/she's using for lowering springs... it looks great!
