Another XSpower header question

I am curious if any of you guys with the XSpower headers notice a slight wooshing sound going through your headers under hard acceleration. It is almost like you can hear the exhaust gas going through the pipes (sounds airy), and continues throughout the RPM.

I hear this with my set. I don't think this is a leak because leaks are typically pretty loud and can be heard at idle (mine are quiet at idle). If it is a leak, it has to be pretty small.

I plan to get some sea foam (or something similar) and check for leaks, but I just wanted to throw this post out in the meantime and see what others have experienced.

Headers do increase noise. Have you had a car with headers before? You may just not be used to the sound of them.

Well I had a previous CLS Automatic with OBX headers (not a good experience). I had to eventually get rid of them and go back to stock. This was about 4 years ago, and I now have a CLS 6speed.

Th 6mt sounds different then the auto with headers. I've ran both with the XS ones.

I have a 03 6mt. i had stock headers two months ago and did a ton of header homework on the board before bying headers. I really scrutinazed the sound and performance of the stock header. the stock header also makes the same whooshing sound however it is not a pronounced. the aftermarket headers are louder. I think it sounds cool, like a turbo. mine do it most during gear changesor decelerating at high RPM.

how will you test for leaks with seafoam

I probably quoted the wrong product name - I need to make a trip to Autozone and see what products they have to test for exhaust leaks.

From your post JPROY, it sounds like I'm hearing similar things from my headers. Thanks for the good info.

I think you could use seafoam to test for leaks. because after you put it in your intake manifold using one of the vacuum lines and then turn the engine off and let it sit for 10 minutes when you start up again the exhaust fumes would be white. Which would be easy to notice if it was leaking out of the headers.
