Another PCM Update ? JENS
Did any of you hear that there is a newer PCM Update than the one in the letter we got about a month or two ago ?
Reason being, is my car on Thurday took a dump when driving, when in D5 i went to pass someone and the RPM just jumped up without the car going anywhere, and then it would lunge (sp) into gear. And then I pulled over and then it wouldn't move at all.
Called the dealer today since they are just looking at it, and they said they need to re-program the PCM
WTF is going on here ?
Jens do you know of anything like this ?

Sounds like a tranny to me. Why wouldn't they say that, unless Acura thinks they can prolong the life of a dieing tranny with the PCM that operates the tranny in a more conservitive manner??

So this one that went bad was the supposed "FIXED" one.
Got a call rom the dealer a bit ago, and they are replacing it.

Ain't a damn thing they can do by reprogramming the pcm. If a tranny dumps, a tranny dumps. Period. All the pcm does is tell the tranny when to shift. Not whether it needs to go into gear when the shifter is in d5. The pcm replacements that we have been doing is to improve shift quality in the trannies that did not get them before. Has anyone noticed that when your tranny has crapped out since the first replacement, the pcm has been included in the tranny replacement? Then, while the thing was working, how it shifted better than the first replacement? Check your breath, sounds to me like they are trying to feed you some shit. Glad to hear they are eating a little themselves by replacing the tranny. Just remember, if it smells like crap, it usually is.

I just ordered my 2nd tranny. The dealer told me that when the new tranny gets installed it will be paired with a new and improved ECU/PCM (whatever you want to call it).
I was told this new ECU/PCM is supposed to shift firmer & faster.
I don't know if this is true, but it makes sense. The firmer & harder the shift, the less wear & tear on the clutches right?
For those who want to know.....
