Another one bites the dust...
So my CL will probably be gone. My cousin was driving all night and got the nods! He was slowing down to wake me up (I was in the back seat sleeping) and as he got down to about 35 mph he nodded off and clipped the guard rail...
Doesn't look like much , but there is more structural damage than is noticeable just by looking at the pics .
There is wood in between my rim and tire and now there are also "bubbles" on the sidewall. This tire is actually pushed to the rear about 1.5 inches further than it was.
The whole side is fucked...
Hoping to total it and get out of the CL scene. Maybe I'll buy it back and part it out... Tranny only has 16k and they are always in dire need in the higher mileage vehicles

Ugh, dude, sorry to hear about that. It sounds like everyone is okay though and that's the most important part.
So you're hoping to get out of the CL scene huh? No 6 speed in your future???

Anyone near here want to swap out factory rotors for cross drilled and slotted all four for a cheap price before the car gets towed to the salvage yard?
I'll be selling an AEM cold air as well, been used for about 8-9 months I think

Everyone makes it sound like parting out a car is simple. Not everyone has the mechanical knowhow to part a car.
I personally have never done it, but I can't even imagine how time consuming it is to strip the CL and make much of a profit vs. the money spent to rebuy it.

Thanks everyone!
That's what I told my cousin when I got out and saw that he really did hit something. "You're OK, I'm OK, that's all that matters... Cars can be replaced, people can't"!
Like I said I was sleeping and woke up with my neck on the arm rest on the other side of the back seat, and just said "What the fuck! I'm sleeping back here!"
(I usually wear my set belt and didn't this time, could have been bad for me but he was going slow enough)
As for parting out a vehicle, I am mechanically inclined to take anything apart and put it back together. Also, my uncle has the tools and space for storage (that's where the car is right now), but I'm not going to be getting it back since its financed still and I have negative equity on it... I knew I should have just paid it off when I had plenty of money... Owell, it will be in Billerica, MA if anyone needs parts. I'll be sure to find out what yard it is in since it's hard to find one for parts.
Anyone with a CLP need spark plugs? I'll sell them for cost since I got them at the Acura dealership and need some money.
I'm not sure, but I think the CLS takes a different CAI than the CLP because of the throttle body or something. Maybe someone else here can chime in on this and give a positive answer.

What should I do???
Ok, just got off the phone with the Insurance and found out how all this salvage shit works...
The appraiser should be out there today and have an answer if the vehicle is a total loss or not. I will then have the option to buy back the vehicle under a salvage title or just get rid of it.
According to WikiAnswers, salvage value of a car is about 15%-20% of the retail value.
So if my retail value is $11,300 and I go with 20% (the higher of the two) then the cost to buy it back by salvage value is $2260...
Cheap price for a CL that I could fix on my own and still drive ORRRRRRR part out and make a decent profit on the parts since I put so much into the financing already...
Anyone with experience on this in the past, please let me know if I was misguided or what I should expect, PLEASE!

You are right, there are more than $2,260 worth of parts on that car, this is why junkyards are so profitable. But they know what they are doing and exactly how to part out a vehicle. You are going to need storage space, proper tools, shipping knowhow, and a market for all products and a willingness to hold on to parts till you find a buyer.
Lets say you make $1,000 in the long run, is that really worth it??? For me thats not, especially with all the hassle of parting out the car.

I did fours years of school for Auto Collision Repair, so I obviously have knowledge on the disassembly of vehicles as well as I have been working on cars since I was young.
The parting out would only be a hassle for shipping, which can be easy enough since I have access to a flat bed.
Just waiting to see if they deem it a total loss now. I just did a quick estimate of parts (only major parts that I could find a listing for, there were some not listed) and it came out to $4k. Add in the little parts I didn't include, Paint and Labor, etc... and it will add up quickly.

No good news... My insurance wants to just fix it as of right now...
I have to have a shop start stripping it to see if there is more damage that the appraiser didn't see...
Not what I wanted, but I'm screwed and stuck with this car now, if there isn't...
They said it's only $5900 damage... Pleh
