Hey guys,

This looks like a great forum. Me and my dad bought a 2003 manual S-Type a few months ago from ICBC (Insurance Corporation of British Columbia) Salvage, It was a write-off.

It was lowered already and we decide to go with that style, so we had the windows tinted, Gave it a custom paintjob (dark grey-blue at to top fading to black at the bottom), and put 18" chrome rims on it.

I will post some pics when I get a chance... and when this damn BC snow goes away.

It's not as ghetto fabulous as it sounds. The rims are more tasteful than you'd think.

Yeah, My dad owned an auto repair shop for a number of years (22?).
That's where we got the hook up for buying ICBC salvage and where we got the paint done.

As for further mods, the car has been shelved for now, we're going to think about some more changes in the future.

I actually am planning on adding some blue and white LED underlights, but I'd appreciate opinions on that one.

Only if you get a CD and hang it from your rearview mirror and switch your Type-S lettering to Type-R too.

Other Mods

I've been looking over some notes I made a while back, when we were first rebuilding the car and looking at somme pics around the forums and I've come up with a few more ideas I'd like some opinions about.

-racing pedals
-RonJon kit
-Black (or chrome) mesh grill
-Darkened tail light lenses
-Brighter headlight bulbs (what's best?)
-Painted calipers

I'll get those pics up as soon as the snow melts and I can get up to the car wash.

Yeah...underlights are def. not going to be popular on this forum.

Your other listed plans sound good.

A few thoughts...

* Instead of painting the stock calipers...I would replace them with an OEM 2-piston set off the Legends...search for the info.
* There is only one manufactured CL mesh grille...don't go for it...fitment & quality issues...make your own.
* Ronjon Kit...good.
* Brighter bulbs....hmm....well the stock HID's are pretty bright. Don't know how you could go brighter.
* Racing pedals...there is a member, Supercomputers (I think), he makes really nice looking sets for our cars.

Welcome to AZ! check out the FAQ thread if you haven't already.

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-2001-2003-50/%2A%2A%2A-official-2nd-gen-cl-information-thread-%2A%2A%2A-480087/

-racing pedals i have supercomputer pedals, they're great quality.
-RonJon kit if that's what you're going for
-Black (or chrome) mesh grill - diy, the ones on ebay are and don't fit properly
-Darkened tail light lenses tinted tails are tacky as hell. i'd get 03's or wouldn't touch 'em
-Brighter headlight bulbs (what's best?) - go for it, Excelerate carries a bunch of different manufacturers
-Painted calipers upgrade to a BBK or Legend calipers instead

Thanks for the responses guys,

I will def. look into pedals from Supercomputer and legend calipers.

also, I already have '03 tails... the car is an '03.

as for the headlights, the ones in it had some really shitty aftermarket bulbs in them, but I think we put stocks from the parts car in anyways.

Thanks for the help guys, I'm sure I'll be asking for your opinions a lot.
