Am I getting Bull Shitted by Acura Service Manager???

My wife brings my CL-S into Acura service manager this afternoon just down the road. She asks him to look at my seatbelt that has never retracted since I purchased the car 14 months ago.

Why did I wait this long? I read something a while back on this forum that everyone had driver side seat belts that never retracted. I drove my wife's TL into work today and her seatbelt retracts great. Every time I unfasten mine it just stays there and I have to feed it up by hand.

Service manager looks at it and says what is wrong? My wife shows him and he said "I can put another one in but it will still do the same thing. It is the design of the car. Your TL seat belt retracts because it is a different design."

Are you telling me everyone out there has a seatbelt that does not work like mine? Is this Bullshit or not??? Will a new one be OK?

Mine only fully retracts with a little bit of help. It does end up trying to find its way into the door from time-to-time.

It never bothered me that much (my brother-in-law would have been over there on day 2 demanding a fix)...

mine retracts alright, sometimes i might have to give it a little push but usually it finds itself into the "casing" fine... until it hits the pull back lever...

Hmmmm...
My wife just said "pretty shabby for such a nice car." Good to know I'm not the only one. Maybe I'll call his bluff and have a new one put in on warranty to see what happens.

Mine was replaced under warranty (after app. 1 year), and it does work "better", now hangs about 15% where it used to be 85%..

Seat belts are always covered by a lifetime warranty. If the littlest thing goes wrong with them, bring it to the dealer and make them replace it. They are required to. In other words, ask them to replace yours anyway, and then rub it in their face when it proves the service manager wrong.

I have to add here that these belts are slow to retract and that is something that appears to be designed in but the fact that it will not try to retract at all sounds fishy.Ask them to replace the belt as that should really not be so.You will find that these belts seem to require a bit of assistence to retract when they are functioning normally.Jens

Agreed. But I don't have a problem with that as of yet.
