Aftermarket header tech question

I saw the Video on TOV about the underside of the CL. The guy talks about how good most of the setup is but points out how poor the header is with it's restrictive turns. Why would Acura use such an inefficient design? An aftermarket setup can increase hp by 30? I am also curious to know why Acura is using plastic gas tanks now? The CL is not but it was said that it is an older design. Thanks in advance

its always a balance between finance and performance. They have numbers they want to meet.

Do you really think it would have cost the company

significantly more to avoid that sharp bend in the pipe? Same materials just a better design.

Probably a weight factor as well.

Prototype Racing's HEADER DESIGN AND THEORY page can probably answer some of your questions.

Hope this helps,
