Aftermarket alarm + remote start.. I'm excited! :D
My buddy has an aftermarket alarm system with remote start feature, with a beeper remote control unit. It also has a display screen and can display a lot of features including cabin temperature.
Well, he's upgrading to a 2000 ITR and it already has a Clifford system, so he's selling his to me for a hundred bucks. It's been used for like 3 months, maybe. He paid 430 plus tax including installation for 4 sensors, control unit, two remote controls, and whatever else the kit came with. I've got a hook-up at a nearby stereo/alarm shop (who also did my custom enclosures for my system), so installation is going to be next to nothing. I've wanted a remote start for a long time now, and thought about just getting a 150-dollar unit -- just the remote start with a crappy control. But now I can finally get a good aftermarket system.
I plan to put one sensor in the hood by the lights, another sensor in the trunk lid, and the other two sensors on either side of the car. I have to protect my stereo system, and the HID lights. I've heard that HID theft has hit Chicago recently and is only a matter of time before Lansing gets hit, too. I don't want to have to deal with that. :thief:
Or do you think I should put two sensors up front by the headlights, one sensor by the trunk and the last one by the driver's side door? I am also getting a motion sensor that I will probably install by the gauge cluster so if any numbnuts try to reach in and grab stuff, it'll go off. How much would a motion sensor go for??
Well, wish me luck, guys. At least this one shouldn't have any problems, seeing as I won't touch a thing on the car during installation with my cursed hands. :o
No more freezing my butt off in the cold Michigan winters warming up my car, or getting baked in the hot summer sun.

advice,,, have it conneted to somekind of back up power other than the battery and don't have signs on window advertising what system it is... trust me they will disarm it if they know what it is,, imo by my recent experience,,, alarms and locks just keep your naighbors and friends honest. After you get hit by a pro you will know what I mean.
