AEM CAI melting hole through underhood insulation???

OK folks I was filling up my washer fluid today when I noticed something that scared the shit out of me!! It appears that the AEM CAI installation is allowing one of the hoses from the throttle body to touch the insulation underneath the hood right above where the throttle body is, unfortunately I don't have my camera, but as soon as I am able to post pics I will.

So everyone go take a look underneath your hood (if and if you don't have the AEM CAI, especially if you have a Type S). Hopefully i'm not the only one having this issue. The TL (I looked at my mom's) doesn't seem to have have this issue, but then again they have a different throttle body then we do. Hopefully the AEM install isn't an issue, but the design of the throttle body is. I've got 34k miles on my TypeS and the insulation at that point seems to be melted straight through to the underside of the hood. If this thing get's that hot, hopefully the paint on the otherside of the hood doesn't get fucked up after a lenghty period of time.

Are your sure its melting from the heat and not wearing down because of rubbing?

Could very well be wearing down from rubing, but probably still not a good thing.

Neither component can get hot enough to melt.

It happened to me with the Injen CAI, it was very bad, I got a new redesigned CAI for FREE. It was from rubbing the front hose with hood liner, I just ignore it now!

It wouldn't melt...that insulation under the hood is KEVLAR...it was put there specifically to handle the heat of the motor so, as not to create bubbles on the paint...I would say it's rubbing...

Absolutly it is rubbing, think about it. Your engine is shifing around under your hood 4-6 inches in either direction upon braking, accelleration and ESPECIALLY hard cornering.

This is how my CAI tore open at the mounting brkt. Not enough FLEX and the brkt. ripped right off the pipe, OUCH!
