AEM CAI Intake concerns....
OK I was readjusting the rubber hosing around my CAI, and one of the things that I noticed is that there seems to be some dirt particles within the actual pipping itself when I pulled the unit apart. Now I have a couple of questions which hopefully someone will be able to help me out with, or hopefully this information will be good to pass onto the rest of the CAI owners.
Well my initial concern was first when the K&N had a nice little hole rubbed into it by being rubbed against the mud guard, now I give Kudo's to AEM for replacing both the intake (with a new one) and a fix for it, but hopefully it wasn't too late ( I replaced it as soon as the penny sized hole was detected with a new K&N cone).
Ok now to my concern, I know the intake isn't going to be completely particle and dirt free (just significantly so) but would all that crap within the pipping eventually be;
1) detrimental to the intake system??
2) How in the hell can I clean that stuff out of the intake system (maybe a thorough cleaning every once in awhile?? with the same method)
Anything else we might need to be concerned about as well and any recommended fixes??
