ACURA - SHOW me da damm Coupe!

Is there still no proof of a new coupe?!?! What is Honda waiting on? THey have 3 successful Acura sedans, a popular SUV, they ditched the Prelude, beefed up the Accord coupe. They know the BMW 3 coupe is out in 06. they should go right up against it now or at least start promoting something for prospective coupe buyers. the Z, G35, and BMw took over the market, well BMw had it anyway. THey need to be more aggressive, esp in the coupe market, get back in.

I wish Acura would go back to a real committment to coupes. I guess they are scared they will fail, after how they handled the G2 CLS and what the G1 CL did to the Acura coupe image.

So ditch the NSX, bring out a mid-line CLX!
Frustrated, the TSX, TL, and RL make the time perfect for the coupe now! why wait for BMW's new 3 coupe to take it all again. It's time, now!

edit- My 6 speed is great but Acura needs to be in the new car coupe market and offer something. the G2 CL is 2 years gone!

They'll probably put SHAWD into the TL first and then release an AWD coupe.

I hope they don't ditch the NSX or at least continue with this type of car in a replacement model.

Well yea, of course, I've got one too, but my point is Acura needs to stay in and be aggressive in the coupe segment. The 03 CLS 6 speed was an afterthought by Acura put on a coupe they were already dropping. They are making great sedans and competing very well, it's time for a new committment to the coupe segment now and a little advance notice would help stir some coupe buyer interest in a line that hasn't had it since the 95 Legend coupe and the 01 CLS.

I'm good for another 2- 3 yrs. If I don't get my M5 or CLS55 I'll be in the market for the new Acura Coupe.

I see your point. I was a bit pissed that they dropped the CL shortly after I picked up my 6MT. Could you imagine a CLS 6MT with the SHAWD?

All I have to say is RWD, thats whats missing, an S2K variant with 2+2 seating, the 3.2 and 3.5 optional engine 6 cylinder, 6 speed and similar styling to the TL would rip open anything in its price range and Acura loyal customers would support the thing, if it existed.

Well, I for one hope it will be a while until they come out with a new coupe, but for entirely selfish reasons. I have this historical weakness when it comes to new cars (eight in the last sixteen years, one honda and seven acuras).

If my calculations are correct, 36 months from now I will be sitting in my first paid for home, and it is a nice one. Yesterday when the CL was in the shop I had a virtually new TSX loaner, it still had the "new car smell". The wheels started turning in my head. Thank God that the TSX is no direct replacement for the CLS6.

If Acura brings out a new coupe that remotely displays the advances I have seen in the TL and RL, I will be an instant gonner.

Imagine being able to buy a swift luxury coupe, brand new, and not having a mortgage payment to make! That is where I am coming from.

Merry Christmas!

i personally think nsx should be gone too. I mean the car is $90k and look at the specs. and from what i heard that thing doesn't even hav a cd player included; i'd say that you're not getting muich for your money. The thing is a V6 running 300 hp. If a car is that expensive i'd muich rather get something like the mercedes SL

SL and NSX are completely different animals.

I believe Acura put in the 6-speed as a last ditch to revive CL-S's rapid falling sales. Everyone here wanted a 6-speed instead of the SS. However, there's just not enough enthusiatic drivers outside this CL community to maintain the 6-speed sales. Obviously Honda/Acura will do lots of market study before developing a new car. If the car buying population is not too keen on coupes, except a handful of us, Acura simply will not bring out another coupe again, unless it will sell as well as the TSX, TL, and MDX.

problem with the CL was competition. When it was released it sold well because there was little competition.

Edward, there is a demand for coupes, Acura just couldn't fill it with the CL. The Z, G35, 3 series, even Accord coupe sell well. The CL didn't. Acura would never expect a coupe to sell as well as any of their non-coupes, 6 speed or not. that is not the gauge.

Personally I want a coupe with
- Acura's sport, reliability, value.
- BMW design and engineering, I don't care much about RWD.
- Audi interior and materials quality.
- G35 exterior.

hopefully a new Acura coupe will hit most of these, exterior styling is where it needs to really step up. Big time. that's why people buy coupes for sporty looks. The CL was too non-descript to lure sport coupe buyers. The new TL is an excellent model for a new coupe, I'm hopeful they won't screw it up. The TSX, TL, and RL are all extremely well done!
