Acura RD-X and Honda Pilot
Honda's got some big things planned involving SUVs for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month. One of the two new SUVs, a pre-production model called the Honda Pilot, at right, will see dealer showrooms in the U.S. during the summer of next year, according to Honda.
The other, a concept called the RD-X from Honda's Acura division, is what the automaker calls an ‘urban adventure vehicle combining the street performance of a sports coupe with the ruggedness of a next-generation SUV.’
The all-New Pilot, designed and built by Honda, features an interior with up to eight-passenger seating capacity and will have the largest passenger and cargo hauling capacity in its class, Honda said.
A V-6 is the powertrain of choice to propel the Pilot's four-wheel drive system. Off-road stability and performance will be enhanced by more than eight inches of ground clearance, short front and rear overhangs, an electronically locking differential mechanism and a widest-in-class wheel track, according to Honda. The Pilot will also have a full compliment of safety and low emissions vehicle (LEV) performance.
Acura's RD-X concept SUV features high-tech functionality, including a 2+2 configuration which can seat four or, with the rear seats folded away, provide room for bicycles, snowboards and other weekend getaway essentials.
An all-wheel drive powertrain combines with a high-performance i-VTEC powerplant and a new Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system. Inside, the RD-X’s race car-inspired interior boasts an adjustable instrument panel and fold-away rear seats that angle outward for increased legroom. A wide-mouth rear opening features doors that open by sliding out and to the side for easy access in tight, urban quarters. The rear cargo area incorporates a hidden compartment to stow computers, briefcases and other valuables.
According to Honda, the RD-X is designed to provide excellent visibility for driving in traffic. Exterior styling highlights include an aggressively raked belt line, a glass roof for maximum visibility, and a rear roof panel that opens to allow tall items to be easily transported. Oversized, run flat tires, ample ground clearance and retractable headlights are also a part of the package.

Happy CL-S Pilot
If Acura is smart they would make the production version a 3.5L V6, 35O HP, AWD and the 6-speed SMG, then I would buy in a blink!
And plese keep the weight to 3500 lb.
