Acura is pissing me off.. I NEED HELP with Navi code situation

I called the dealer today and the service guy first of all was a dick. So he called me back saying oh your car was purchased at this so and so dealer which was far from my house (I bought my car used). So anyways.. he said that dealer doesn't have my navi code in file and I have to cough up 43 dollars to get the code. The service guy pissed me off by saying he was doing me a favor and calling that other dealer and I got made saying WTF thats your job it shouldn't be a favor. SO there saying I have to pay 43 bucks for some #'s or he said if i want it free I have to take out the whole navi unit and get the serial# and give it to them then they'll do it free. SO i was on the phone forever with the sales manager and that service crack head. What should I do? is there a alternative motive to this?

opinions most appreciated

BS... there is a simple startup procedure to force the NAV unit reads the serial for you ....just follow the instructions I saw in a pdf posted here... then you can get the code from the dealer for FREE!

I wouldn't pay $43 for a code.

Well thats why I was fighting with dealership b/c they said I have to pull the unit... and Im like bullshit how can you not have a code in the system and how can you be charging your customers for this. Do you know where that pdf file is that tells you how to pull the serial #.. it would reallly help and save me alot of money :P

Open your glove box and look for the code on a white sticker (it's on the SIDE of the glovebox and hard to find) attached to it.

I found my code there one day by accident.

To read the code, you might have to drop the glove box down completely (but still hinged)

I hope that makes sense.

I just realized that you might be confused about one thing--

The sticker is attached on the side of the glovebox, but on the OUTSIDE. You won't find it by looking inside the glove box. It's hard to see even with the glove box open.
