I am wondering how many people have had to have their SRS sensor replaced.Warranty or not. Also I read one persons response to someones question about what might make the light come on in the first place. Putting heavy stuff on your seat? Anything with a magnet may trip the sensor up? Why would'nt it be covered in any of the warranty books or the owners manual? The reason I ask is I had an actual magnet in my seat and huh the next morning my SRS light is on. Magnet in my seat ......SRS light now on. That is some BULLSHIT now.

Please reply if you have had this problem. I really want to know how many have
Thanks people
Frank

I mean reply if you have had to have your sensor replaced. Mine is on and there is nothing in the seat...it wont go off.

Putting heavy stuff on the seat isn't a malfunction...its intentional...it shuts off the airbag if you have a kid in the passenger seat.

yes, I had / have the problem.

if someone sits in the passenger seat and leans to their right, or if I put 2 big ass CD cases in the passenger seat, the SRS light comes on.

its only on the passenger side tho.

Warranty book says seatbelts are covered for the useful life of the car.

had my replaced/reset about 6 times now.... oh and its on again and stays on. really pissing me off.

the dealership now keeps telling me its my audio system causing the interference...

actually last time it can on, it was because of my cell phone charger being pluged in inside the center console, i went to anwser my phone and immediatley noticed the srs came on... hhhmmm

i had mine come on and had to go to the dealer to have it re-set. I paid 85.00 to have it re-set and thank god it did not come on again after being re-set. The dealer told me that it most likely came on because I put my cell phone on the seat. I would think that a device that malfunctions because of a cell phone being placed near it is too sensetive and would need to be re-engineered to correct this problem.

Thats why I am curious to see how many have had this problem. When I did a search on the subject I found quite a few people saying cell phones, electrical devices have been the source and it seems like a factory problem that should be covered as it says nothing about keeping these things off of the seat in the owners manual. This is the only problem I have had with mt CLS

My SRS ligh has been on for about 3 months. I don't know if it's covered under warranty, but I don't want pay to have the sensor replaced. I heard it's expensive.

My dad's got a 99 3.5RL and his SRS light is on. He's had it in 7 times in the past 5 years for SRS sensor malfunctions. This time it's out of warranty and they want 746.50+tax for the unit. Aparently the whole SRS system is bad. That's insanely expensive, however they've agreed to eat the cost for the sensor and just charge him for 278 bucks for 3 hours of labor. I mean damn that's expensive, but at least the dealership has handled us well.

now does anyone know if this applies to all automtoives in the US

my moms lexus ls 400 seat front driver side and passenger seatbelts do not retract anymore

the dealership wants like 350 each but if she can get it replaced for free that would be great

you see i dont understand this bull shit

if the dealership agrees to give you the part for free then why cant they give you the labor for free.

either way they are going to be reimbursied by HONDA/ACURA warranty department anyway

there is no way they plan on giving away free parts without being compensated, and NO charging for labor is not it.

no SRS light, only the occasional "side Airbag" light when a passenger leans to much

I went to the dealer myself since my srs light was on and they told me they simply had to reset it. 2 days later, the light comes on AGAIN...
I went back to the dealer, and they now tell me they have to order a piece and to come back in a week. It's covered under warranty, but jesus.... I'm starting to wonder how efficient this dealership is....
Poooooorrrrr service!

well let me clairfy what i meant in my original post

for example you have 48k miles and your SRS light comes on and you get it replaced under the orignal warranty, regardless if the same part breaks after your orignal warranty expries, THAT part you just had replaced autmatically has a 1 year or 12k mile warranty.

Now lets say you have 150,000 miles and a part goes bad. well you pay to get it fixed. if the part breaks within 1 year or 12k miles it will be covered under the parts warranty

now to answer your question does that include certified used cars? i dont know it depends on the warranty that they issue or sell to you at the time you purchased the car

But if you recently replaced a part and its going bad before 1 year or 12k miles then it will be replaced for free. Well maybe not totally free. dealerships will cover the parts but not the labor...
