Acura NSX in NEPA-SCCA SOLO II
Yesterday I was at a local mall and in the parking lot was going on a SCCA SOLO II event which quickly drew my attention.
There were a few Civic Si's, an Integra Type-R, some VW's, Nissan's, Camaros, Subaru's, a Chevy Corsica, a Ford Escort, etc., etc.
AND, a nice black/yellow NSX. The car looked sharp: HUGE wheels (could not get close enough to see brand), drilled rotors, enhanced braking system (could not tell if Brembo or other), etc.
I was expecting great things from this car and driver; what with his sunglasses, DRIVING GLOVES and prim & proper hair, which I am SURE he did not want to ruin with a helmet, but had to anyway!!
Well, let's make a long story short and just say that he BARELY complete ONE LAP before he badly misses a turn and ended up going outside the course!!
I was really disappointed!! The Chevy Corsica and driver did MUCH better.
Oh well, just thought I'd share a less-than impressive moment for ACURA, or should I say for that driver!

yep.... autoX'ing is all in the driver. You wouldn't want to see me out there either!! WEll, at least I can stay on course and not hit any cones, but at the price of ultra slow times! On the other hand, I saw a guy in a Civic EX sedan pull better times than a guy in an M3
It's definitely all in the driver!!!!

Well, in his defense, it was probably his first AutoX. If he was a veteran:
1. He wouldn't have huge plus-sized wheels, but rather the kind that he could shoe Kumho V700's on (they're not available in very low profiles) and still clear the brakes.
2. He wouldn't have done the brakes, which would have kicked him out of Street Prepared class. Few people venture out of Street Prepared unless they're willing to go all-out, which is to say major engine work, chassis work and such. Not something you want to do to your daily driver, IOW.
Classifications carry over to Solo I, BTW. Going out of a class for AutoX means the same thing in track competitions.
