Acura extends transmission warranty!
my dad found this article in today's edition of the Wall Street Journal. Forgive me if this was already posted.
Honda Will Warranty Faulty Transmissions
Detroit - Honda Motor Co. said it will offer extended warranties to owners of 1.2 million cars and trucks because of potential transmission problems.
Honda also said it will reimburse owners who have paid to fix transmissions with the problem. The company said surface finishes on certain transmission parts could flake off over time into the fluid and cause sluggish shifting or unexpected downshifting. Honda said there was no safety concern.
The action, reported in Friday editions of USA Today, applies to the following models with automatic transmissions: 2000 2001 Honda Accords, Odysseys and Preludes; 2000-02 and some 2003 Acura 3.2 TL cars; and 2001, 2002 and some 2003 Acura 3.2 CL cars. Honda said it was extending the warranty on those vehicles' transissions to seven years or 100,000 miles. The standard bumper-to-bumper warranty, which includes transmissions, is three years or 36,000 miles for Hondas, and four years or 50,000 miles for Acuras.
