I will be surprised if and when Acura ever puts out a 2 door car again. They got rid of the integra, RSX, CL, NSX. I want a new integra type r, but we all know honda/acura doesn't make cars that performance based customers want. Also with the size of Americans getting larger every year it seems how would any of those fatties ever be able to get in the back seat of a 2 door car.
I am still surprised honda put out the crz as a hyrbid 2 door 2 seater and thought that would be a good sell, so i guess anything is possible.

Frankly, I think Acura needs a coupe if they want to stay competitive. Dumping the CL was a bad idea IMO.

the CL was a flop for acura... they are afraid to make a sport luxury coupe now that there is the 335 and the g37s. lol acura's best motor is only a tad over 300HP... they'd need 350 before they could make a sport coupe that sells... and a tranny that lasts would help

Acura needs to bring back the NSX! If they brought back the NSX, it would look bad ass. Acura needs to live up to their standard of "advance" and build a sports coupe. Not some lame ass, low hp bullshit.

acura is going down the drain with most of their new cars.
how many new RLs do u notice around u? ive seen one or two in last month and in car business.
i liked the newer TLs but yesterday i saw one from this exact angle, may be a couple of inches higher and viewing down.
and I had lost the love for this car.

Acura is not competing with Lexus, they are trying to compete with BMW and Audi, albeit unsuccessfully.
Ive been hearing rumors for the past few months about a 2 door Acura. Theyve talked about this scenario (TSX platform) or a restyled CR-Z, just with more power.
I would be interested in a CR-Z variant if they managed to get the performance on par with the Si (but preferably better). A TSX coupe would be nice as well, as long as the V6 and 6MT are options. Knowing Acura though, it will be available two years after it is released and only available for that model year, then they will discontinue the model.

Back to a MT!
I would love to see a new CL, but Acura will probably give us a heavy fwd car that will probably be auto only with the V6, like in the TSX or no option of a manual like in the TSX wagon. I would say if they aren't going to give us something worthy to fight a G37 or 335, they should just save the money developing the car. A lot of people say there is no market for 2dr sporty cars these days, but look at how many G's, 350/370Z's, 335, camaros, and mustangs are on the road. If Acura can give a clean Honda design and not get too fancy while delivering the performance we all know they can do, they would be successful. But I'm not holding my breath cause I would be dead pretty quick...
If something were to happen to my CL I really don't know what to replace it with... Here's to hoping...

If Acura stops making manuals like it seems they are going towards i will lose all interest since I will only buy manuals. Can't get the tsx in manual. Is the TL the only manual left in Acura's lineup?
Another thing is people mention the 350z and g coupes being successful, and part of that is because they are very different from their sedan counterparts. The g coupe looked/looks alot better than the sedan and that was the major selling point. The 350z has alot to do with looks also because it was very unique looking and attracts alot of attention. Same thing with the accord coupe looking alot better than the sedan. To sell a coupe it seems like you need to make the sedan version somewhat ugly and the coupe extra sexy cause looks seems to be the only selling point i see.
If you look at what Acura does tho, they make a 2 and 4 door version like they did with the 2nd gen Cl, Tl. These cars are basically the same exact car, same weight, etc only difference really was the manual for 03 with limited slip etc. For most ppl the Cl dsn't look that much better than the Tl to give up the 2 extra doors, especially when the extra 2 doors doesn't even add any extra weight.

Could they not have done a little more to the S2000 (chassis upgrades/re-enforcements), drop a V6 from the TL and go from there? The rear-wheel layout was already in place. A small coupe to compete with the 1-series BMW at a $5000 discount.

I always wondered what the Cl would have looked like if they continued production. I have seen a photoshop on here of a 3rd gen TL as a coupe. It looked hot i wish it was real

Wait a minute, a TSX coupe? Wouldn't that be.... an RSX? I was always led to believe that the RSX and TSX were fairly similar mechanically (back when the RSX was around, at least.)
As a matter of fact, I'm sure if Acura ever did bring back a coupe of any sort, it would definitely be more of a follow-up to the RSX than the CL.

I think the BIGGEST issue with the CL was the Accord. In 2001 and 2002 you could get the Accord EX V6 with nearly everything the CL had for less money. It also ran on regular instead of premium. In 03 the CL had the 6MT, but thanks to Hondas excellent product planning , 2003 marked the redesign for the Accord and the coupe was available with a nicer, updated interior, navigation, leather, a 6MT and still ran on regular. Basically it had everything the CL had wrapped around a design that was 3 years old.
The CL stood up well (on paper) with the upmarket coupes of its time. Its biggest enemy was the Accord, and the Accord won.

Theyre pretty quick, but there are some things the CL had that the new Accord doesnt (HIDs, LSD, memory seats, pass mirror adjusts when you put it in reverse). Its little things, but they are little creature comforts I would have expected out a $32k car. I love driving it though and it returns pretty good gas mileage. The stereo sucks, but it is better then the stock Bose stuff in the CL. I really like the shorter final drive in it, it makes a huge difference. I just wish the tranny wasnt so different so I could swap it.

I remember the Acura/S2000 rumors a few years ago. Would have been nice with the K23 out of the RDX with slightly more boost (the K and F are very similar).

Oh what I wouldn't pay for an Integra Type-R. I started out with a little LS, then got what seemed to be the grown-up Integra (CLS). I would still trade this in at the drop of a hat for a new Type-R. Sad so few people want small, lightweight, practical sports cars anymore. I always think about what I would get if I didn't have the CL, and the truth is I have no clue.
