The new 3.0 liter V6 with I-VTEC is not the same as the i-VTEC system found on the K-series engines. The V6 will be a SOHC design and will feature a cylinder deactivation system (Honda is calling it something different, but I don't remember the name) similar in theory to the Mercedes S-class system.
This engine will not have the Variable Cam Timming, but will get a large boost in MPG as well as lowered emissions. The "i" still stands for intelligent but is referring to the deactivation of the cylinders and not variable cam timming. As for the engine making its way to the US market? I am going to go out on a limb and say yes, it will be here eventually, however no official statements have been made.
Honda has speculated about a DOHC V6 with i-VTEC for the larger line of Acura cars. Lets hope it does happen and we get some copies in the Honda line as well.
