Went out tonight to fill the tank and save myself some time tomorrow morning.... and decided to take a stroll down 95 and use up some more gas before fueling up. Got off at 175 and turned around to get back on 95N. As I'm coming around the on-ramp, I see headlights + fogs on my ass and hear a small growl. The ramp cautionary speed was 30mph... and I was in 2nd doing about 55 and eased off as I felt the car begin to reach it's limits. But the car behind me was on rails and had to slow down as I took my foot off the gas. As we came out of the apex, saw no cars ahead of us and nailed it. He darted over to the lane to the left of me. I saw him gaining on me even as I hit vtec in 3rd, and knew it was over. Shifted to 4th and by 120 the mid 90's style M3 was ahead and walking away faster and faster. Shut it down and flashed him but he didn't slow up at all... He must have hit 160+ easily before I lost his taillights. Goddam.... would have liked to know if it was stock... he was no joke.

I don't think a mid-90's M3 would walk you so easily if he was completely stock. It is unlikely he would gain on you like that when you're in the sweet VTEC range. 4th gear would kill you though.

The E36 M3 is governed at like ~133mph so if he did run 160mph, it's a Dinan special. (The irony is the BMW never imported the ~280hp version of the E36 M3. Imagine that monster.) Stock the quickest published time that I've seen was C/D @ 0-60:5.3sec -- 1/4 mile 14-flat @ 100mph. But, I've seen quicker stock times @ Etown.

Derelict, I ran two different E36 M3 (coupe 5MTs) on two sep occassions (w/ my 2k2 Max) at the same location with the same results: Both times from a stop we were even through their 1st & 2nd gear but, upon 3rd gear I was dog meat.

So no doubt, they're quick.

Damn if I knew he was limited to 133 I would have kept at it But with how quick he was continuing to pull to away he had to be going more than 13mph faster. He was literally gone from my sight about 25 seconds after he past me (factoring in me taking my foot off the gas).
