999$ for Comptech Headers (Again)

Diamond Bar Honda is offering me 999 dollars for the header.
which for some of you thought it's a great deal.
but too bad I don't have any money right now, I'm actually on dept of 1,500 dollars for my credit cards.

and YES, Diamond Bar Honda does sales 1st Gen CL products too. springs, AEM CAI, etc.

if you guys are interested, we can probably all go together and might even get a better deal ?

Yeah webtoker I think he was going to go with Tim, but something like this dealer was giving him 999 for headers and 90 for the install! THAT IS AWESOME! hehe...

Dealer Invoice Price for Comptech Headers is $850. So $150 a shot is not that bad as net profit if all what the dealer does is just place the order!

Oh, they will skin you to death if you get them installed, my local dealer quoted me $280!. I think any qualified mech should get those in less than 2 hrs!

So $100 is reasonalble but $280 is too much.

i'm in it.

if you are serious about purchasing headers, i'll go with you to get a group discount.

let's aim for $1000, INSTALLED. we can squeeze him.

if there is ANYONE else, please be involved. the chances of getting the headers at a lower cost will be higher.

rurofan: when are you planning to get them? i want them asap. email me if you're serious about getting them.

I think Friday the 19th will do, it's next week right ? but what time ?

I was talking to the guy named Robert, he's the one who quoted me on the header. While we're there, I'll let you guys do the talking, okay ?

So how about Type-S Girl, isn't she interested too ? and the PDG Type-S guy from AZ, is he coming too ?

Hmm...thats right....would it matter that Honda is installing instead of Acura? I would be down too, wish I could, but no money! I think the total will be around 1175 with tax? Not sure though, so be ready....where is this dealer located again? Maybe I will just venture on over to take a look.

there will be no warrenty issues. the dealer where i have purchased my car has no problem with aftermarket parts (montclair acura), and they know comptech is a reputable brand. they in fact installed my comptech sways. so there is no warrenty issues period! just get them already!

those that are serious about purchasing or have any questions, email me.

actually we can include tax in the final price. i'm aiming for $1000 installed including tax.

this is assuming myself, water rabbit, rurofan, bodizafa, and tw1112 will be purchasing & installing headers. am i correct? also, if you'd like to install and purchase other items for your car, you might want to do it at this time.

i'd say we do it early in the morning, 9AM. that way, if they have the parts, they can be installed by the end of the day. rurofan, do they still have to order the parts or do they have them at the dealership?

again, warranty will not be a problem.

i'm actually going to link snook to this thread.

if he's able to beat or match the price, that would be great. i think $1000 installed is very reasonable.

also, i was reading some threads, and i realized some of you don't have a '01 CL. can you guys list what year and parts you want? this way, when we're at the dealership, we can be prepared and ready to negotiate.

so cal type s: '01, headers.

They don't have the headers in stock, but I guess we can order them and pay for them on Friday, then install them later on. that way it wouldn't effect our prices. right ?

I'm down for 9AM in the morning !

Hey Rurofan, you wouldn't by any chance know how much they are charging for the 1st gen CL headers would you?? I know the CL-S headers are more expensive, so they wouldn't charge me the same would they?

To : TW1112

I don't think they would, it's two different headers for two different cars.

To : So.Cal Type-S

Alright, let's do it. *sigh* although I'm really close to file my bankruptcy though.

well, if that's the case, then on friday, the only reason we will show is to negotiate with the price, and order it that day.

however, we could call them, negotiate, and they maybe could have the parts in by friday for the install.

i'm almost certain water rabbit, yourself (rurofan), bodizafa, and me will be purchasing headers for the '01 CL. this will be a total of 4.

!!! please be certain you will purchase the headers !!!

also, please confirm this by replying to this thread.

after the confirmation(s), rurofan, can you give me the number to the dealer, i will call Robert and negotiate the price for 4 comptech headers on the '01 CL, installed.

oh, is Robert from the parts department or service department?

i already have my negotating strategy planned out.

I'm game for what ever we need to do on Friday.

I'm comfortable with the objective price and with So Cal CL-S being our lead negotiator.

9:00 AM is painful but not impossible - I'll be coming from Redondo Beach that morning.

I'd like to be satisfied that the installion will be professionally done, but I'm not a mechanic so unless one of you is, I'll be going on vibes.

So, barring piss-me-off, nasty dealer surprises or a feeling of dread about incompetants wrecking my car . . . I'm in.

So Cal, I responded to your Pvt message and tried emailing you again, earlier. The email came back again, so try the address in my Pvt message and I'll reply that way.

actually, it's tentative for the moment. i'm going to call the dealer and tell them we have 4 people interested in headers.

i'm waiting for snooks response to this thread, maybe he can give us a better deal.

if not, MONDAY, i'll call the dealer, tell them our situation. that way, those like water rabbit and yourself do not have to drive to the dealer, when it can all be done over the phone. i would do it tomorrow, on friday, but i want to make sure everyone is settled, and there might be others who will want to be involved in this group buy.

or actually, i'll go there by myself on monday. negotiating in person is much better than on the phone. i pass DB all the time, i just need directions. so monday afternoon, i'll give you guys the details.

sorry to be so umm, leader like?! i just want to get things done!

ok there's only one a few things i need: number and directions to DB dealer. or i can just look online and stop being lazy. haha.

That is interesting, because Tim sells them for less money than the CL-S? Anyways...dunno. I would still have to see how much for a 3.0. Sorry I am so undecided.

Guys, make sure that they're not headers they actually kept in stock cuz they might be the 1st Gen Comptech Headers. The 1st Gen had a resonating noise problem and the 2nd Gen fixed it. So ask and check it out...good luck guys! Oh, If they can sell you the header for $999, I bet Snook can beat it! go to www.autocarparts.com

Tim is snook from the other board. He is the owner of autocarparts.com

Above, where I said that the headers were cheaper from Tim, I meant that the 3.0 CL headers were priced at 995, while the headers from the CL-S are for 1015. Not that big of a diff, but then that way I can support Tim's biz...hehe I can save 4 whole dollars!!
