6spd CL-S Drag Strip Experience........

I went to Firebird Intl. Raceway and ran the 1320' a total of four times. My best time is posted below. My motor is bone stock, and I had tire pressure at 25psi in the front and 40psi in the rear.

Temp 69F
R/T .539
60 2.49
1/4 14.81
MPH 97.25

I also saw several Maximas running ~14.6 and a new Mitsu Evo running ~13.5.

Overall, I am pleased with my times. It is unbeliveable how much wheelspin I get from the shitty stock tires even at that low of PSI. I was launching at ~1500rpms. I also had several people ask me what kind of car I was driving? (debadged).

What do you think?

Hi trap speed and very bad lanuch.. You should be doing low 14s.. somewhere around 14.3-14.4 sec... 97.25MPH is very fast. Your 60' of 2.49s is really bad...

Good luck for next time.

Get some drag radials. Nitto's are pretty good. Your trap speed is pretty impressive, but it's the launch that is eating up your 1/4-mile time. With DR's, you can definitely shave down a few tenths in launch, and that will get you in low- to mid-14's.

Good luck.

I plan to take my '03 TL-S to Milan as soon as I get a chance.

Get some slicks or DR's.....a couple of people here have gotten some 16" TL rims and put DR's on them....i personally ran a 13.9@109 on the stock tires, still having a 2.45 60' which sucks...w/out spray i ran a 14.0@100, so the potential is still there, unfortuantely i think our cars are just really meant for the street.....but good luck, it takes practice and this car is definitely the hardest one ive ever had to launch at the track.....

You SUCK at racing! First of all...you're supposed to do a huge smokey burnout. Then you take the car to redline, lanch it, and do another burnout. When you shift, try to smoke the tires again, and at the end yank the e-brake and do a nice victory 360.

I don't disagree with you. I just don't want to find out the hard way that the 6-spd clutch / tranny only has 10passes in it and I've already made nine. I know traction is a problem because the tires would break loose on the 2-3shift When I have some more miles and alot more mods, I'll try again with some DR's. Regardless of my times, it was a lot of fun for $15.

I am just curious. What approach have you found best for launching the car without spray? What do you rev to and do you let the clutch out fast, slow or moderately?

...or you can just be a pussy, put hydraulics and five tv's in your car and then park it in the garage where it never sees the light of day.:pfawk:
