60k Mile Service 2002 CL-S necessary?

Hi:

I have a 2002 CL-S w/ 62000 miles. I changed the oil and oil filter yesterday, have a clean K&N drop-in air filter and plan to change the cabin air filter myself. The only other items on the factory 60K mile service include visual inspection of hoses and oiling latches and hinges.

I bought a 100K 7 year extended warranty. Could they void my warranty if I don't take it into a dealership for the "official" service? Two Acura dealerships quoted me between $400-$500. A bit steep isn't it?

Please advise!

Shawn

How about changing the tranny , coolant and brake fluids? Ever changed them? I usually have them do a 7500 mile service every 15,000 miles, which includes many inspection for about $100,00 including the oil and filter, and do fluid changes, if they haven't been done. You can also easily change the cabin filter yourself and save another $100.00. Buy aftermarket cabin filters and save another $10-20 Do a search for instructions. That should be eoungh to keep warranty valid IMHO> But ask your dealer assuming it's an Acura extended warranty.

hmmmmm........ if you hadn't bought the extended warranty i'd say forget it. unfortunately the acura franchise owners direct their staff to use any possible excuse to invalidate the warranty coverage. this is to charge you for repairs. can't say if the charge acura as well, double dipping. but since you've shelled out a bunch for the warranty i'd say you'll have to get some of the service done in order to prevent them from having any excuse to void the warranty.

make a list of engine and trans stuff that needs done and get quotes for the separate repairs. compare that with the overall "60K service" fees. i'd worry about the drive train. anything else shouldn't give you much trouble. but you never know.

tough call given acura's franchise owners attitued towards their own customers.

Keep records of what you do (including receipts of fluids, parts, etc.)..
