60' Times suck.. any techniques?? help??

ran a 15.1 /w 2.56, brake torqued ~2k, SS
15.1 /w 2.48, brake torqued ~1200, gateshift

im on stock michelins. goin to the track again on friday. need some help. should i jus ease into the gas, until traction hits then floor it? or will i lose too much time off the start.

also, do ppl do burn outs /w the stock tires?? ive heard it both ways.

Burnouts are uesless with non-drag radial tires...

The trick is to feather it off the line... Pouring on the gas will spin the tires, ESPECIALLY the stockers. Be patient initially getting out of the hole.

Play with tire pressure. Bulldog01, mattg or darrinb might be of assistance. I range from 2.38 to 2.8s.

Yea, Commerce isn't know for anything close to consistant traction. But with those short times and what you launched at, are you sure you were getting wheel spin?? Or could you have been bogging the launch??

With the the essentially stock (performance wise) TL-S and with the front pressure dropped to about 25 PSI; you should be able to launch harder out of the hole. Try with VSA On and see if it flashes to confirm wheel spin.

BTW, I'm heading up there next week, the 14th, to try get some times in with my CL-S6SC before the track closes. You heading up then??

Maybe the track was extra greasy that night.

I installed the blower last March but haven't made it to the track yet. I wanted to get some runs in with the basic blower set up before I add the other items I am working on.

I've heard it's good to briefly spin street tires just to scrub off any dust. Not trying to get heat into them and never ever drive through the water with street tires. Even if you do a burnout the water will drip out of the tread while you are staging.

here's the deal...forget the light forget the race...just try leaving like you would at a light ,like you wanted to leave hard but w/o spin...you feed it throttle...dont floor it and dont ,TB....you wanna roll into it...alittle hit then a pause then feed it the rest

rollin on stocks is hard at the track, drop em to 20-23 psi up front

if you can run 15.1 off those shitty 60' your car must be runnign pretty strong

what were the weather condiotions??

I would say that the lowest you should go with the fronts is 28 psi. I tried going lower to help with spin & hop and it helped the launch a tiny bit, but it killed my mph. The only thing you can do is get lots of practice and see what works best for your car.

I usually run the fronts around 20-23, like Darrin said. My best is 2.20, and the last couple nights at the track have been mostly 2.2x, and 14.3 - 14.4, with a 14.2 thrown in. Stock tires, btw. I have DRs, now, but the track is closed, so I'll have to wait for next year.

the shifts have to come the moment before fuel cut...if yi=ou are ever to get a good time, you'll have bumped the rev limiter alot in trying
