60,000 mile service
I asked my local Acura dealer for the cost of 60,000 maintainance and received the following reply:
Currently the price for the 60,000 mile service is $239.99+tax+shop charges, a list of what we do can be found in the maintenance section of your owner's manual under severe conditions. Note: shop charges is 10% or $20.00 max.
As I felt I should be in the normal catagory and did not require several of the the "normal" items (tire rotation-just put on new tires, A/C filters-not used very often, Air cleaner filter-they replaced this at 45,000 miles) I submitted a list of what I thought should be done, and received the following list:
Replace engine oil filter-$16.03(parts&labor-client to supply oil)
Inspect front and rear brakes-$45.00
Check parking brake adjustment-$27.00
Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots-$9.00
Inspect suspension components-$9.00
Inspect driveshaft boots-n/c
Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS)-$18.00
Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids and check for leaks-$18.00
Inspect cooling system hoses an connections-$9.00
Inspect exhaust system-$9.00
Inspect fuel lines an connections-$9.00
Inspect and adjust drive belts-$27.00
For a total of $196.03 plus tax(7.52%) and shop charges(10% to $20.00 max)
That means (if I'm reading things correctly) for $43.96 more I get the following done:
Inspect water pump.
Rotate tires.
Lubricate all hinges, locks, and latches with multipurpose grease.
Check all lights.
Inspect the underbody.
Replace air cleaner element.
Inspect and adjust drive blets.
Replace Transmission fluid.
Replace air conditioning filter.
And dealers wonder why we are so confused by their prices..I asked for a normal 60,000 price, but they requested the itemized list of what I wanted done. I consider my needs to be normal as I drive 15 miles to work (each way) that includes three stop signs and sometimes one traffic light (no city or short trip driving), I don't tow anything, and most of the land around here is grass. My trips to from work are 5:30AM and 6:30PM, so even in the dog days of summer I don't experiance much above 90 temps. YMMV

Seems strange to me - maybe you get the quantity discount with the full 60K service?! Dealers are strange. I am assuming you went to Flatirons Acura - how has your experience been w/ them other than this pricing thing? So far, with the exception of my recent rotor resurface job, I've been pleased w/ them.

these scheduled maintainance services are such Bullshit!!!! like TypeSkid said, bag that crap, just keep up on your oil changes, tranny flushes, etc....thats ALLLL you possibly need...i mean come on!?!?! 45 bucks to INSPECT BREAKS?!?!?! do you know what they do for inspecting breaks?????!?!?! all they do is take off your wheels, look at the pads, rotors, calipers, hoses, for all of like 10 SECONDS per wheel, then put the fuckin wheels back on, thats a god damned rip off if ive ever seen one. one of my very close freinds is an experienced and certified mechanic and he agrees WHOLEHEARTEDLY, SCHEDULED MAINTAINANCE IS BULLSHIT!!! i will never take my CL-S in for any scheduled maintainance accept for what is common sense, I.E. oil change, tire rotate, tranny flush, etc.
