5000 mi review - interesting

Not being an enthusiast, I can be very objective. This is a nice car. Gripes first.
1. Boy I wish the TLS had come out first.
2. The seats are too confining.
3. The mirrors are too big.
4. The steering wheel doesn't telescope.
That's it.
Now the other part.
Stock, it will outhandle any other stock car on the road. It will handle flatter than a stock 330i/sp and will outhandle it up to 80%.
It will outrun anything up to 330i/stick, GS400, 540i. That includes STS and E430.
I would rather drive it on the highway than the GS400, quieter, better ride, less tire drumming. It's not as neat as the 540i, but it gets way better gas mileage and way lower payments.
I get 29mpg at 75+ and 20 in town. Wife does worse.(lead foot)
I have no squeeks, rattles, complaints.
Changed the oil at 4000, popped the wrong bolt and drained the tranny, damn sideways engine. Discovered the one marked "oil" and it was a snap.
Quiet, fast, good handling, I will probably add CAI, headers, but it handles well enough that I don't know about sways. Cornering faster than this car will safely handle is just plain wreckless, and I AM A MADMAN.
I don't think that it is as pretty as the
BM and the coupe is not very practical for a business consultant, literally a PITA to get fat clients to lunch. But, so far the car has exceeded my very high expectations.
BTW as a point of reference I traded in the GS400 and the 540i for the CLS and the 330i and other than the occasional urge for 300hp, these cars are more fun and more satisfying, especially the VTEC growl when it comes on the pipe.

Hey Both,
Love your feedback. I hope you put the HONDA/ACURA TRANNY fluid and NOTHING ELSE ! Read your manual and don't mess with the tranny fluid that is NOT BY HONDA ! We have very complex trannies and require ONLY HONDA/ACURA TRANSMISSION FLUID !

A friendly parts guy at Kragen told me, so I went to Honda. Also, I forgot to say -
ONLY RACE GUYS IN BIGGER CARS UP TO 100. IS300s are nothing more than something to boost your ego. They ar in the rear view mirror before 60

Actually my stock cl kept up w/ AC's 540i from 0 to 80. I know it will out run us past 100 but not before then.

Yours is unique. I never raced the 540i, it was returned first. But I did race the GS400 and got blown away pretty badly. I torqued it to 2000 rpm and dropped the brake, got 15 feet of spin and then went like hell but it jumped me right off the bottom and just pulled away until about sixty where I gained, held. The gap to sixty was about what the published numbers would predict, 5.8 vs 6.6 or 6.7.
