4th Gear 01-CLS
Hey whats up guys this is my first post, I just bought an 01-CLS a week ago w/ 41k and I love it. I opened it up on the highway the other day, used the tiptronic to get up to 100 with ease, however when it hit 4th gear, it felt like it was in neutral and not going anywhere. It climbed up to 110 but really slowly so I let off the gas. Is this normal or should I have this checked out by the dealer? Still under warranty til 95k. What is your top speed w/ stock 5sp auto?

4th is a weak gear for the CL-S... but it still has some pull to it. If you shifted to 4th at 100 you'd still be high enough in the RPM band to notice the acceleration. How long did it take to hit 110 from 100 in 4th? Top speed for the CLS is 148... although others claim to have gone faster by possible going downhill.

Thats normal. Also why I always laugh at the peeps who take the auto(s) up to it's top speed. You could fall asleep past 3rd in the CL-5AT on the highway.
Headers help a bunch on the highway, along with a CAI.

I haven't had many chances to get past 100 so I'm not sure on how much time it takes, but it is slooowww. I haven't had much time to research the mods for this car, so is there a chip for it? And how much hp does it take you up to?

Get headers and 4th gear really isn't that bad. Especially past 122 or so...when you start getting back into VTEC. One of the best races I had was against a Jag XK8 from 80-145. I pulled on the Jag from 80-115 he caught up around 125 and from there I slowly pulled a car or so til 145.
