45k Service what REALLY has to be done?

Just called the local dealer and they want 400 bucks for the 45k service. I asked them what do they replace and they said

Brake fluid , coolant, oil /filter change, rotate tires, clean air filter.

Well since I bring my own oil and filter, plus I have a CAI all i really need done is

Replace brake fluid : 50 bucks

Replace Coolant = 69 bucks

Oil change labor = 10 bucks

K, my question is AHmotor sells Honda fluids
so how much brake fluid do we need if we want to replace it @ home? 12oz is 4 bucks and also how much coolant do we need if we would replace the coolant ant home? 1 Gal is 17 dollars

Probably just a radiator flush and oil change if needed.

I thought our coolant was the stuff that lasted till 100K miles? & why change the brake fluid at 45K miles? If it's not burnt or anything I don't think is needs to be replaced. I would do a tranny flush though. That is if your tranny has been in service for more then 15K miles.

I got the engine coolant 1 Gal for the radiator drain. However, I read on the back of the conatianer the the coolant is good for 60k 5 yrs... so I will do both the radiator coolant, brake fluid and new pads at 60K miles.

Over time the brake fluid picks up moisture and other junk. That lowers the boiling point of the brake fluid. Having your fluid boil at lower temps = poor or no brakes. You probably will never notice unless you brake hard a lot. The drop off is very gradual and 45K may be too soon. 60K is more reasonable, but for sure before 100K. ABS systems are more sensitive to poor fluid than conventional brakes too.
