3.5L = 5 Vs. 99+GT= 2

well what do you guys think of this weather?..my cars loving it. out looking for trouble tonight i came accross my mustang GT friend used to work with the guy awhile back and we always bump into one another ...

heres the first thread : http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/s...threadid=124919

so anyway i wasnt sure it was him and with another friend behind us in a GTP i kept bliping the throttle trying to get him to go...he finally does and i pull pretty hard...this was from about 50. we get down to the light and he says " you got more than just those tires" i said "tires and wheels and the wheels are 50lbs lighter than the old ones" he was like ohh...ok ...so we agree to go from the same light as the last post ,but that thing satyed green forever...we catch the next one ...and he says he's gonna try starting in 2nd ...i could tell he booged some...i was out a couple cars and pulling...next we turned around and tried the honk thing...he says he thinks he got the jump it was 3rd before i was pulling he shut it down with me at his door....next another light...this time was perfect he put me on his door out of the hole and by the end of second i was ahead and starting to pull away in 3rd .it was a good race...after we pulled over and chatted...first time ..but like i said i knew him from way back...so he has the super chip,intake,and 4.10: 's H pipe,275 /40 rear tires that looked new . i think they'e new since we last ran...all in all good fun..nothing like running a car thats real close to your same speed

Weird... why would he start in 2nd from a dig? And why woulnd't he jump you from the dig anyways, even again? Unless he was spinning? Your mods aren't stickies, and you still aren't turning a 1.9 60-ft... ??? Yeah, with 4.10's, superchip, and x-pipe, the guy (potentially) could be in the low 13's...

well nothing to brag about tonight...im kinda dissapointed... several 2.0's ,1: 2.063 ...a few 9.0's but never managed to break into the 8's ...the weather was good ,but not perfect...10-20 mph head wind 58* but seemed like the humidity came up it shows 58% ahh so so...any way awaiting the crank pulley...hopfully it'll be the little something that puts me over the edge with these slightly taller heavier tires...we'll see

Honestly, with 275 in the rear (traction wont be an issue) 4.10's a chip, xpipe, etc... He will EASILY be in the low 13's... if he cuts a 1.6 or a 1.7 he can dip the 12's...

I am confused still.

Me too... that is weird. If he has ET Streets or even Nitto DR's, turning at LEAST a 1.8 should be no problem. More likely 1.6 or 1.7 though, if he really dumps from 5 - 6k... From a dig, he should destroy you out of the hole, if you're turning 2.0's. Then again, maybe you raced on crappy streets and he couldn't hook? <shrug>

Still pretty impressive 2.0's out of the CL. I saw some at the track getting 2.4 60's... but that was w/ stock suspension and tire. What do most CL-S average for 60 ft?

275 is not that great a size for the gt but not bad... and they were just regular tires ,goodyear maybe cant remember

ah....

Maybe they were stockers (245/45/17) Gatorbacks. Those tires are pretty crappy... best I could manage was a 1.9 out of them. But they don't hook too well on streets sometimes, so I could see that happening that you took him out of the hole on a bad launch. Either way, good kill.

You drive an auto, right? I bet your 60 ft is slow cuz you can't dump the clutch... no way to jump out of the hole. I don't know if brake torquing would help that much (I don't drive auto) but did you try that too?

2.063 is slow ...ya auto ...but ive tried everything..the thing is the nitto's are 245/45 and much heavier than something like the toyo T1s...which i will switch back to...

to the other person that asked no i didnt beat my record that is a 8.930 but i was close at 9.021 the 20 mph head wind hurt i think ..or maybe im making excuses...we'll see what happenes after the crank pulley...then it's the Emanage,port throttle body and upper intake,b pipe and exhaust...then ultimatley a buit tranny with stall and LSD...im building this thing to go 12.99 on the motor

275's are not enough on the mustang especially with 4.10 gears. 1st is pretty much useless in the 5 speed with naything steeper than 3.73's and without having drag radials or slicks.

275's are just a little too small for my Cobra... I dont see how a NA geared GT could push the limits of a 275 DR... Guys running the Nitto DR on the Cobra arent having a problem hooking. If it was warm I wouldn't either... My rear gear is 3.55 and I have a bit more than 360 RWHP....

Ugh, I said ET Streets or Nittos. ET Streets ARE Slicks. Refer to above. But yeah, you can dump even with Nittos if you get them nice and toasty first.
