235/40-18's on a 7.5" wide wheel

Hey hows it goin!

I got a set of Volk Racing CE28N 18 X 7.5 Offset +50 in Mercury Silver on order from Japan, and I was wondering if I could fit 235/40-18 Toyo Proxes T1-S on them? From Toyo's website, the recommended wheel width range is 8"-9.5", but I prefer this size over the 225/40/-18 due to it better matching the overall diameter.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanx!

I’m in the same dilemma. I want to go 235’s on my 7.5” wheels, but the tire shop is advising against it.
Nearly every tire brand spec I look at they say 225 MAX on a 7.5 so I guess he’s right.
I need to decide by next spring when I buy new rubber.

You should be fine. If 235's can be put on the stock 7" rims, then 7.5 should be no problem. I had 235-40-18's on the 18's I had with no problems. I'm sure you could get that size & see how it fits, & rides. Then exchange them if you need to.

it's not the 235 it's the side wall the 40 series gives less room for squeezing on the wheel but i'd say a 235/40 on a 7.5 is about the same squeeze as 235/45 on a 7...but theres always 225/45/18

but with the 225/45 there isnt much of a tire selection and they cost an arm and a leg... thats why most people go with 225/40 or 235/40 which provides much more selection.

the 235/40's I have in my garage came off of a 7" rim and didn't have any problem at all.
