Agreed, Ford has already stated that the new Cobra will exceed the current stated 390hp (although we all know its a bit higher)......assuming the car stays "very" similar to the concept, that will be some ride.

Im a Mustang fan. I know that they are going to the same chasis as the S Typse Jaguar and the Lincoln LS. It will have a 290 Horsepower 4.0 Liter V8. When supercharged it is 390 like the Type R Jags.

One thing that is definitely not going to carry over is the interior.

Will the Mustang be a common car, of course it will. But I think it will last awhile without being a me too car. Plus the Cobra is going to be crazy, you won't see those all over the road.

But Beltfed, to the every day Joe, a mustang is a mustang, cobra emblems or not. The every day Joe will think, hey that mustang looks kinda fast, but it's still looks like that 6 cyl mustang.
Tha factor that "plays it out" is the fact that it is available from $18K to $35K and every rent a car agency will have at least 20 of them.
I, myself like the retro look of it but I bet the fast back will lend to some serious blind spots. If this wasn't my last coupe and that thing has a respectable trunk (I doubt it), I'd get one in a sec!

Before the pic w/ the old 'Stang even finished loading, I thought that looks like a 68 w/ an "edge" to it. I like it a lot! I've always been a Mustang fan, would never buy it, but nice nonetheless.

that is beautiful...i haven't liked any mustangs after the late 70's. I think that the fox body platform gave birth to an ugly lineage. But, i must admit the the '98+ mustangs are decent looking.
Who cares if they are played out? Just enjoy the car. You even see a good number of Ferrari's these days. Just buy it to enjoy it. Trust me everytime you get behind the wheel of a V8 coupe with a manual .... i gaurantee you it will bring an evil litte grin to your face every single time!

I'd also agree... Especially since Ford is claiming 390 hp out of their supercharged Thunderbird concept (3.9L V8). One would hope Ford would be able to bump up the power on their supercharged 4.6L V8.
I like the styling as well. I'd definitely consider a Cobra version as a secondary car to my daily driver, given the financial means of course.

These are the first pics of the upcoming Mustang that I actually like. Looks good. I'd take the Cobra also, hopefully it will be available with the rumored sequential 6 speed! I'd go with jet black too....and a blue tribal flame job of course.

Hey a buddy of mine who works at ford just sent me 7 pics of the '05 Mustang convertible. Should I post them in this thread or start a new thread and post a link to it from here?

I've seen those vert pics b4, but I wasn't really that enthusiastic about it, but that coupe is nice! I can't wait to see the new cobra, it will have to have over 400 hp.

Damn, not bad at all. I love how the last 2 Mustangs have looked. The current one looks GREAT dropped on the SVT 18s. This new one is TRULY retro. NICE!!! They are sticking with these huge wheel arches, make the wheels look so small. Great job FORD!

Safety Car
Holy sheit...I wanted a cobra before, but now I want one bad...I hope they fixed where the seats put you...that has been a problem for me with the current gen Stang's...'til I can drive one (no way for the snake...I'll just try the GT...if its good, and they keep the Cobra at 35-40k, then I will buy the snake)
Sweet car...HISSSSS

I love my CLS, but depending on the price of the new 'stang, this might bring me back to owning a Ford. Hmmm... maybe in a couple of years after the work out the 1st year bugs.

don't like it. I liked the series of stangs before the current ones(the ones started in 94 i think they ran to 98) I hate these more than the current ones.
I read Automobile the magazine they were ripping Ford about the new Mustang concept.
I just hate it when car makers do "throwbacks"(like the T-bird, VW bug) I know they are trying to get the older market. but I rather see the car evolve than keep on getting recycled
