2003 Stereo Receiver Replacement
My mother owns an '03 CL Type S with the navigation system. This Christmas I was going to replace her factory receiver with an aftermarket unit. Crutchfield is telling me doing so will lose the factory navigation. Is this true and is there any way around this?
I have not worked on her car's electrical system before, but there's not much I haven't done to a car when it comes to wiring. That said, I don't want to have to rip out her entire dashboard to get everything working. She'll only be here two weeks for the holidays and I would rather not spend that time working on her car.
So, is it possible to use a factory navigation system with an aftermarket stereo? And if so, is it a relatively easy process, or will this be overly involved?
Thanks for any input...

You don't totally lose the navigation. You just lose the voice directions through the stereo. Everything on-screen still works fine. Really a choice you have to make. I went with an AppRadio so I have Google Maps, Apple Maps, and any other mapping app I want instead now. I couldn't care less about losing the factory GPS voice instructions.

Easiest way is to replace with an use oem stereo from salvage yard or eBay.
You can get the pin code by supplying Honda Customer Care with the serial number of the use head unit. Preferably in advance.
The swap will take around 2.5 hrs.
